This week, Shannon and I venture into northern Vermont, where we enjoy some delicious food and seek out some great places to camp! I also head out into the backcountry in the Jeep to explore the Green Mountain State's vast network of gravel roads and primitive town highways. Adventure is afoot!

Not afoot, but literally, a foot. Shannon and I returned to full-time mobile living in this chapter, but things are off to a rough start with a fractured metatarsal. Hobbling around on crutches and wearing a thicc boot while experiencing the Green Mountain State is no less an adventure. As I got older, I started to travel more around the state, and even lived on the New Hampshire/Vermont border, so I got to know Vermont quite well. Brattleboro is a small town in southern Vermont with a thriving artist community and beautiful hiking trails. The town is right on the river and full of hidden gems. Like many places in New England, Brattleboro is best visited in the fall for leaf season, but still has lots to offer year round. When I say I am from New York, most people think of the City. But little do people know there is more to New York than just the City. Growing up in Northern New York, I was very fortunate to live so close to the Adirondaks and the Green Mountains of Vermont. And for seven years lived over near Western New York in Rochester. I also lived in Plainfield, NH for 6 months and I lived in Newton, Massachusetts for 3 months. So, I have a vast knowledge of nature around New York State and some of the Northeast, or New England. I hope this gives you some great hikes to check out whenever you venture to the Northeast! I love photography, so the cover photos are taken by yours truly.

New England is known for its thriving craft beer scene, with numerous breweries producing exceptional brews. Did you know Vermont is the state with the most breweries per capita? The state may be small, but there are breweries everywhere. As a New Englander living in Vermont, it's challenging to definitively rank the "best" as preferences can vary widely, but here are some of the most outstanding breweries in New England, listed in no particular order. Please note that the craft beer landscape is continually evolving, and new breweries frequently emerge with exciting offerings. I recommend exploring local beer scenes and tasting rooms in New England to discover hidden gems and favorites that align with your specific beer preferences.

A round trip 8 day route from Boston exploring New Hampshire, Vermont, & Maine. There are lots of stops and scenic sights to enjoy the natural beauty in early fall! This is a moderate paced itinerary which I would recommend spending Leaf-peeping has become super popular and lots of the charming boutique B&Bs book out quickly because they are small. A few of the areas book out completely by mid-January. I would book no later than February. There are also many foliage maps which will help you determine when is best to plan your trip. It is not an exact science as many things affect the exact timing of "peak" including rain fall, temperature, and more.
