Hiking Around the Northeast

Hiking Around the Northeast

When I say I am from New York, most people think of the City. But little do people know there is more to New York than just the City. Growing up in Northern New York, I was very fortunate to live so close to the Adirondaks and the Green Mountains of Vermont. And for seven years lived over near Western New York in Rochester. I also lived in Plainfield, NH for 6 months and I lived in Newton, Massachusetts for 3 months. So, I have a vast knowledge of nature around New York State and some of the Northeast, or New England. I hope this gives you some great hikes to check out whenever you venture to the Northeast! I love photography, so the cover photos are taken by yours truly.

Letchworth State Park
@creatinglifesdreams
Located just south of Rochester, NY, Letchworth is known as "The Grand Canyon of the East". Letchworth is about 17 miles (about 27 kilometers) long with plenty of hiking trails and views to see. You can camp out here, book a hotel room, or eat at the restaurant that is by the Upper Falls. I would highly recommend Letchworth all year round. One tip I received from a Meet-Up Group is to arrive at the park before 8am so you don't have to pay the fee.

Stony Brook State Park
@creatinglifesdreams
Stony Brook State Park is located just south of Dansville, NY, close to Letchworth State Park. To enter it's about 7 dollars per vehicle. It's about a 2.3 mile (about 3.7 Kilometers)trail where you'll see a couple of gorgeous waterfalls and places where you can swim. I visited this park on a holiday weekend and it was pretty busy. So I would suggest picking a day during the week, if you aren't into big crowds of people.

Chimney Bluffs State Park
@creatinglifesdreams
Just a short drive east of Rochester these large Clay Formations, known as "Chimney Bluffs" are very out of this world views. There are two parking lots, one in which you hike to the Bluffs, or one where you can drive to them and view them from the beach, or climb the steep hill to get the views of Lake Ontario. I do believe you have to pay at the Parking lots and the one where you hike to the Bluffs usually gets full fast. It is worth it to do the hike to the Bluffs, which is about a 3 miles (about 5 kilometers), because it makes it more adventurous!

Watkins Glen State Park
@creatinglifesdreams
Watkins Glen is one beautiful gorge to check out. There are tons of waterfalls to admire along the 3 mile (about 5 kilometers) hike. This was one place that I didn't have on my radar to check out, until one of my friends talked about it. Although this place is very popular, it is quite breath taking, and truly beautiful with all of the waterfalls. I would highly recommend if you find yourself on Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes! The Finger Lakes are a beautiful area of New York, it's also an area known for all of the wineries, if you're into wine. Make sure to stop by Geneva too on your way, it's a cute little town.
