Road Trippin' Around Vermont
Alburgh, Vermont
If you're driving on the bridge from Rouses Point, NY, the first town you pass through in Vermont is Alburgh. Alburgh holds a special place in my heart since it was close to where I grew up. I worked on an organic farm here, and I have some friends who own an amazing cabin rental business for fishermen. Needless to say I love Alburgh. Even though this place is little and may not seem like it has much, but what it does have is character.
A few things I would recommend checking out are Darby Farms, riding your bike down West Shore Road along Lake Champlain, stopping by Devyn's Creemee Stand in West Swanton for ice cream in the summer, stop by the Alburgh Golf Course or stop in at Kraemer & Kin for a delicious meal of local produce. Alburgh even has a beach that you can drive a boat to or you can get there by car and relax on the lake for the day. Even though it's a small town, there is always something fun going on.
If you do decide to rent at my friend's place in Alburgh, Henry's Sportsman's Cottages, I would recommend you try to get either Cabin 15 or cabin 12A if they aren't already booked! Those two cabins are my favorites. If you're into fishing this is the place for you!
