The BEST accommodation options for your trip around ICELAND -for ALL BUDGETS.
Iceland is an incredible country, its dramatic landscapes and tourist infrastructure make it a must visit destination with appeal for all ages. I coordinated and lead an adventure tour here recently and it is honestly one of the most beautiful and magical destinations I have ever been to. In this guide I share my top recommendations for Icelandic accommodation, divided into budget categories.
If you only have a few days and aren't planning to move around much further than the golden circle, or if you won't have access to your own car, my advice would be to stay in Reykjavik for most of your nights and do day trip tours with a stay somewhere special out in the countryside for 1 or 2 nights as a treat.
Iceland doesn't have good public transport links outside of the capital so you really have two options, book onto a tour or it's one of the best places to do a self drive adventure. (If you're planning for Winter, don't let the ice worry you- opt for an SUV and contact the rental place in advance to ask for studs on your tyres)

I first visited Iceland 3 years ago after getting an internship out of nowhere. And since then I been coming back year after year discovering the country more and falling in love even deeper.
Iceland is the crazy combination of fire and ice, pure nature, crazy landscape and unbelievably welcoming people. Friends and family always asked me for recommendations and like that, I eventually came to make this 4-day itinerary that I'd like to share with you. It's perfect if you are on a tight schedule but still want to make the most out of it
The itinerary is with renting a camper or a car in mind. If you want to travel to Iceland without a car check out my other guide on car-free and budget Iceland. You can do it solo or with as many people as you can fit in a car. You can either choose a budget version with camping or be more comfortable with apartments on the way. For example, if you were to travel with a friend the cheapest option would be renting 4x4 and camping with your own tents.
What you'll find in this guide
✔️Day-to-day itinerary
✔️Recommendation for car rental
✔️Recommendation for activities
✔️Budget estimate for different styles (camping, camper van, hostels, hotels)
✔️Accommodation recommendations for camping grounds
What you won't find in this guide
✖️Recommendations for restaurants (depends on your taste and budget)

Iceland is the crazy combination of fire and ice, pure nature, crazy landscape and unbelievably welcoming people. Friends and family always asked me for recommendations and like that, I eventually came to make this 10-day itinerary that I'd like to share with you. You'll stop at the most iconic locations and do things like whale watching, ice cave hiking and exploring the glacier lagoon by boat.
The itinerary with renting a car in mind. That would be 480€ per person plus activities and if you choose all of them total would be 890€. You can explore all price options in an interactive spreadsheet.

The first time I came to Iceland was during my university when I got a summer internship in the country. I was way too excited to give up this great opportunity, however, my student budget was not too happy about the costs. I very quickly discovered that Iceland is as expensive as they say but I also discovered it can be explored on a low budget.
In this guide, I'll share with you how you can plan your Iceland trip, on a budget and without a car. From where to stay, how to move around and what to see. If you choose the most basic option (camping and hitchhiking) you can expect 30€ a day. If you prefer hostels and public transport or bus tours you can expect anything from 40 to 150€ a day.
What you'll find in this guide
✔️Public transport options and description of each
✔️Recommendations of accommodations from camping to hostels
✔️Day tour options from Reykjavik
✔️What to do in Reykjavik
✔️Exploring outside Reykjavik and where to go, stay and how to get there

The Golden Circle is a 300km loop in Southern Iceland. I know it may sound daunting, especially if you are on a tight schedule to squeeze everything in. This guide will give you a schedule of the perfect way to plan a day trip in The Golden Circle. I’ve also added links of my experience in each activity and a recommend tour group if you aren’t ready to face the slippery roads during winter in Iceland.

Iceland is known for its many waterfalls, in fact, there are over 10.000 on the island. Most people head for Gullfoss, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, this map helps you to escape the crowds and includes 10 of the lesser known but equally beautiful waterfalls Iceland has to offer.

Iceland is one of my favorite places in the world and I'm excited to share this itinerary, which covers everything you need to have the most perfect week traveling the Ring Road. Plus I've included details about an off-the-beaten-path destination located in the center of the island, which was the highlight of my trip.
I explored Iceland by van and I believe it is the absolute best way to maximize your time on the island. Van travel saves you money since your accommodations, transportation (and meals if you decide to cook in your van) are all in one!
To travel the Ring Road in just a week, you'll need to be prepared to drive a lot (a few hours each day), but you'll see a lot as well!
If you're looking to hike, experience great Icelandic restaurants, be adventurous, and see the best parts of Iceland in 7-days, then this itinerary is for you.
Destinations covered:
📍Partial Golden Circle
📍Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park
📍Skógar
📍Vík
📍Skaftafell
📍Höfn
📍Seydisfjordur
📍Lake Mývatn
📍Akureyri
📍Reykjavík
📍BONUS: Off-the-beaten-path destination (my favorite part of Iceland)
Recommendations included in the itinerary:
✔️Hikes
✔️Restaurants
✔️Two tours
✔️Van rental information
✔️Campsite information
✔️Easy van meal ideas
✔️Local tips and general Iceland information
✔️Packing list to make van life seamless
*This itinerary was created for someone looking to travel to Iceland between May-September.

Are you considering Iceland as your next destination? Do you need a little extra motivation to actually book that flight? Though motivation comes in many forms, a great hotel can easily tip the scales. Here are 14 hotels around the country--from Reykjavík to a remote island to the far north--to help you envision your trip. You'll be ready to search for active volcanoes, gushing geysers, massive glaciers, the northern lights, thermal hot springs, and thundering waterfalls in no time.
Note: I travel to Iceland frequently, so this map will be updated.
