The Golden Circle Day Trip: Iceland Winter Edition
Solo Female Travel Guide
The Golden Circle is a 300km loop in Southern Iceland. I know it may sound daunting, especially if you are on a tight schedule to squeeze everything in. This guide will give you a schedule of the perfect way to plan a day trip in The Golden Circle. I’ve also added links of my experience in each activity and a recommend tour group if you aren’t ready to face the slippery roads during winter in Iceland.

8:00AM: Get Picked Up From BSI Bus Stop With Reykjavik Transport Option
BSÍ Parking
@solofemaletravel
BSI is the main bus stop in Reykjavik and only a 5 minute walk away from a great budget-friendly place to stay in Reykjavik (Guesthouse Galtafell). Here is the exact tour I took, if you’d rather book the experience with a group than use your own transportation. It includes round trip transportation, lunch and all activities listed in the links below 👇🏽

9:30AM: Arrive at Eldhestar Ranch For Sunrise Icelandic Horseback Riding
Hótel Eldhestar
@solofemaletravel
You can choose from plenty of options to add on in your Golden Circle Day Trip, but my all-time favorite was riding the Icelandic Horses.
If you’re not familiar with an Icelandic horse, imagine a pony and you’ll get the picture. These horses are much smaller than what most are used to. They’re also extremely exclusive in Iceland. Once a horse leaves the country, it is never allowed to come back. This is mostly due to the various diseases that could wipe out the entire population.
Note: I was the ONLY person on this tour because no one else had booked. I had a free private ride with the guide! Though this isn’t always the case, the tours are much less crowded in the winter than the summer. All gear is provided. And yes, the sun rises around 10:30-11AM in the winter.

11:30AM: Enjoy Lunch Provided By Tour Next Door
After your horseback riding, you will have a lunch provided in the tour price right next door to Hotel Eldhestar if you book the same tour that I did.
