ICELAND ❄️: top 5 of the BEST activities!
1 - Kayaking 🛶
Kayaking in Iceland is a whole different experience than anywhere else in the world! Specifically in Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where you will be surrounded by floating icebergs and seals playing around.
I can assure you, I've absolutely looooved this experience and would highly recommend you to go on tour!
2 - Whale watching 🐳
The Icelandic waters welcome up to 23 species so you will for sure get the chance to observe whales here!
There are different places where you can go on whale watching, however, if you plan on travelling around the island, there are 2 places I would highly recommend you.
First of all, in Snæfellsnes with Láki Tours. From the peninsula, you will find the best spot in the whole island to see orcas. You can also see sperms whales sometimes there and different types of dolphins.
For humpback whales (my favorites ❤️) and even blue whales, the North is the best spot! There are different companies in this area but I would advice you to check in Húsavík, Hjalteyri or Dalvík.
Of course, if you plan on staying only in the capital, there are boats leaving from Reykjavík!
If you have the budget, I would recommend to go on a zodiac, to be closer to the action. I find that you get more seasickness on big ferries as there are in Reykjavik rather than on smaller boats as there are in the North.
3 - Hot springs/spa ♨️
How could you leave Iceland withtout experiencing the hot springs? Here are lagoons where you can enjoy a relaxing bath, get cocktails and enjoy the view.
Note that the natural hot spring water tends to turn silver jewelry black, so make sure to remove any jewelry made of silver before heading to the lagoon!

4 & 5 - Glacier hikes & Ice caving 🧊
You don't see glaciers quite often but in Iceland, you get the chance to see many! Even during the summer you can go on a glacier hike but if you go to Iceland during Winter, you should definitely go on a glacier hike that includes Ice Cave exploration!
Note that according to the location of the glacier, it can be darker or clearer. If you go to Katla, the glacier is pretty dark with a lot of ashes and black sand stuck in the glacier for thousands of years. On the opposite, for clearer ice, you will get some on Vatnajokull, the largest glacier in Europe.
Now off you go on your next adventure! 🚀
