"Hot. Cold. Very hot. Frigid. Can you deal with extreme temperature changes . . . while in your bathing suit? Geosea is a thermal-bathing complex in Húsavík. It's perched on a cliff in the northern part of town. Húsavíkurviti, a bright-yellow former lighthouse is off to the side. Skjálfandi (the bay) is straight below. You might spot whale-watching boats, orcas, or dolphins from up here. If you come at night (except during the summer), the northern lights are a possibility, too. But back to those baths.
Geosea is a collection of geothermal sea baths that are full of mineral-rich seawater. People in Húsavík have used this water for both bathing and heating their houses for centuries. In 2018, these baths were opened for the public to enjoy it, as well. Three infinity pools sit at the edge of the cliff. The cold, sometimes frigid, temperatures come from the Arctic winds blowing off the water. There are locker rooms to store your belongings and shower before bathing (the showers feature products from Sóley Organics, an Icelandic natural skincare company). A minimal café serves soup and sandwiches (the bread is made from geothermal heat). At the swim-up bar, you can even pay with the wristband you're given upon arrival. Book online in advance during busy times."

"Geosea is not only a world-class geothermal bathing mecca — it is an experience that taps into the historical roots of a small fishing town in North Iceland that has harnessed the earth's geothermal waters for centuries.
It is a rare union of mineral-rich seawater and heat from the Earth's core. Perched along a western-facing cliffside that overlooks the Skjálfandi Bay and the Article Circle to the north, the baths provide the ultimate vantage point for whale watchers and for those seeking the northern lights. Reconnect, decompress, and enjoy Icelandic nature in a unique way. "
