About the country

Singapore🇸🇬 is undobtedly the most modern and advanced city-state and island country in Southeast Asia. With ist location at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, and just about 137 km north of the equator, is typical for its crazy humidity and sudden and heavy rain storms😅.

❗️Good umbrella is a must, and to have it always with you❗️

🔹Main currency: singaporean dollar

(you can either exchange the money or withdraw from ATM at the airport, the exchange rate was very fair)

🔹National languages: english and chinese

🔹Religion: budhism, christianity, islam, taoism and other chinese religions, hinduism, sukhism and no religion

Sentosa island🌴is undoubtedly one of the top holiday spots in Singapore. With its beautiful beaches truly deserved a spot in my bucketlist. You can either take a cable car there (ticket needed) or walk (free).

Singapore Cable Car
@barboracintava96
Cable Car to Sentosa island is considered to be the best way as how to see the vibrant city from above. There are 2 lines, one from Mount Faber to Merlion and then second line on the island itself. We do recommend using all rountes (you can travel each directions for once) to see all the beauty.

This attractions for me its like the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It is so unique and beautiful that you need to see it. You have to options here the free one: see them from below or to buy a ticket for the skywalk. However, no matter which options you choose, you need to come for the evening light show! It happens every day from 9pm, every 30 minutes. You will LOVE it, I promise it!

Transportation

The best way to absorb the atmosphere is to stroll around the city by feet, but if you want to see a bit distant places the MRT (local metro) should be your preffered option. It is the most convenient option as well when you want to reach the city centre from the Changi airport, the route takes about 25 minutes - with the green line.

The public transport card can be purchased directly at the airport in dedicated vending machines, the card comes with the 3 S$ credit and costs 5 S$. BUT, you can choose your preffered design😃I opted for Toy Story. TOP UP is possible only with a CASH for now.

The bus is as well a good and convenient option. Fun fact the doubledeckers can be found here.

The app for the local transportation:

Food guide

Singapore is well-know for its variety of cuisines. Considering the history and dominance in the country it is nothing to be surprised of. Moreover, as typical in the SEA region other asian cuisines can be found as well.

Make a use of the diversity and try different food ;)

Typical Singaporean dishes are:

🔸Noodles: Char Kway Teow, Hokkien Prawn Mee

🔸Soup: Laksa, Bak Kut Teh (Meat Bone Tea/Pork Ribs Soup), Wanton Mee

🔸Others: Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chilli Crab, Fried Carrot Cake (not a dessert), Oyster Omelette

🔸Breakfast: Kaya (coconut jam) toast with butter and soft-boiled egg

Below you can find places we've personally tried.

❗️BUT as there are plenty of them, the Google reviews usually help❗️

Paradise Dynasty

This restaurant and chain was recommended to us by the local person and my friend Cass. It was an amazing experience while trying some chinese dishes. Definitely recommended trying the Dim sum tasting kit and fried rice with a pork cutlet, wow! 10/10

Breakfast

Toast Box
@barboracintava96
It is certainly the best place where you can try the local breakfast. We opted for the kaya butter toast (kaya- coconut jam) with 1/2 boild eggs, coffee and honey lemon tea. The eggs are usually mixed with soya sauce. Another option can be a peanut butter toast or laksa (local noodle soup).

Shopping

The main shopping street for locals as well is the Orchard Road. Basically it can be described as a line of the shopping malls where you can easily enter one from another.
