HIKE HERE: The mirror lakes walk is a stroll among small lakes with lovely reflections of the mountains. This is attainable for all ages!
HIKE HERE: From the car park in Aspiring National Park there will be a trail to the blue pools through the greenery. It will eventually take you on some wooden, fixed walkways before reaching the pools. The water is so clear that you can see right to the bottom of the pools, and on a sunny day, the colors are truly breathtaking.ย
HIKE HERE: Head out on the 8.9 mile loop trail near Glenorchy which is considered moderately challenging, but is a popular trail for bird watching, running, and hiking.
HIKE HERE: There are many hiking trails near the area ranging from easy to challenging walks. The most popular are the Diamond Lake Track and Glenorchy Walkway.

HIKE HERE: You can walk the Moke Lake track which is around the lake from the car park. There are some secret trails that are not marked off of the main track.
HIKE HERE: Lake Alta track is 2.1 miles out and back that's generally considered a moderately challenging route.
HIKE HERE: There is a Roys peak track, which is roughly 16km long and takes about 5-6 hours to hike. The view at the end (and on the way up of Wanaka) DEFINITELY worth it!
DRIVE HERE: This is a scenic byway linking the Mackenzie Basin and the Central Otago region. There is a carpark at the top of the pass which provides access to a viewpoint and two short trails to other viewing spots.
HIKE HERE: Do the Hooker Valley Track! It is an easy find in the park and will be a 6km track through the mountainous region. It takes roughly 3-4 hours depending on how fast you walk through the track, but normally people tend to stop at the end where the lake and glaciers are present

HIKE HERE: Also known as Reflection Lake, Lake Matheson Walk offers mirror-like reflections of New Zealand's tallest mountain, Mt. Cook (Aoraki), that is on the other side of the mountain range

HIKE HERE:ย Franz Josef Glacier walk is an easy 1.5 hour round trip walk to the base of Franz Josef Glacier from the car park. Walk past a waterfall along the wide river stone track, suitable for children. You can't get that close to the glacier face anymore because it's receded too far.

HIKE HERE: Kea Point Track is a simple 1 hour round trip hike will bring you to an expansive lookout point over Mount Cook and Mueller Lake. Once you reach Kea Point itself, find a nice place to sit and relax as you have Mueller Lake, the Hooker Valley and Mount Cook out in the distance.
HIKE HERE:ย The Hokitika Gorge Walk is a short walk along the stunning Hokitika Gorge and the pristine mature podocarp forest of the Hokitika Scenic Reserve.

HIKE HERE: Mount John Walkway is the most popular hike in the area with great scenery all the way up of the milky-turquoise blue lake and 360-degree view on Mount John higher.
DRIVE HERE:ย The Catlins is truly remarkable with a wealth of natural wonders, where lush rainforest spills onto brilliant beaches and Mother Nature still rules supreme. Six spectacular waterfalls including the triple tiered cascade at Purakaunui could have been plucked from the pages of a fairy-tale. This incredible coastline is home to the Worldโs rarest penguins, most endangered sea lions and smallest dolphins.ย
HIKE HERE:ย The track through mature beech forest, and then beech and podocarp, is suitable for all ages. It is only 0.4-mile out and back trail which takes roughly 10-15 min.
HIKE HERE: There is a well-maintained pathway that suits all ages that will only take roughly 10-20 min to walk, or take the Nugget Point Lighthouse Walk which is 1.1 mile out and back trail near Kaka Point.
HIKE HERE: Explore the 4.6 mile out and back trail that is generally challenging to take and it's unlikely to encounter many people while exploring this area.
