"Lake Matheson is also known as Mirror Lake and on a calm day the surroundings reflects perfectly in the water. There's a walk that leads around the lake and it's well worth taking it for different scenic views.
Lake Matheson was formed when Fox Glacier receded 14.000 years ago, leaving a hollow that over time filled with water.
The walk around the lake takes 1,5 hours but you also just walk to the pontoon which is about 40 minutes away from the parking lot."

"The walk to the highly photographed Jetty Viewpoint, where on a clear and still day the snow capped mountains reflect in the lake, is only 2.6km and pretty flat through beautiful forest."

"Don't skip these breathtaking views. The loop trail around the lake is flat and takes about an hour to complete. You also get great views of the glaciers from here."
