"Another awesome spot just 45 minutes away is Glenorchy, the drive out there along the lake is special but the scenery is even better once you arrive. It’s a beautiful spot nestled between snow capped mountains at the northern end of the lake known for great hikes, a famous red shed, featuring in the lord of the rings, and as the ultimate jump off spot to reach Mount Aspiring National Park.

"Take the 45 minute scenic drive from Queenstown along the lake and at the head of Lake Whakatipu you will reach Glenorchy, a small town offering activities for outdoor lovers and also the gateway to some of NZ's best-known multi-day hikes.
As the landscape is stunning, this area was also a location to film many scenes from the Lord of the Rings and Narnia movies."

"About 45km scenic drive from queenstown. Check out the quaint town of Glenorchy with it's snow-capped mountains and still waters. Stop at the local pub for a bite to eat or just simply take a walk and soak in the natural beauty. "
