Results for Shizuoka, Japan
Travelling across the countryside of Kanagawa and Shizuoka, one of the most jaw dropping sights that you simply won't miss is Mount Fuji. As Japan's highest mountain, it has long been revered as the nation's pride and a spiritual embodiment of "home" for many.
This guide offers a brief introduction to my journey south of Mount Fuji, spanning the two prefectures over a concise 4-day car trip, highlighting how I came to appreciate the natural beauty, grandeur, and unparalleled cultural value of Mount Fuji.
Here are 10 less crowded spots to enjoy Mount Fuji, carefully curated into 4 chapters - Fuji by the Sea, Fuji from the Mountains, Understanding Fuji, and Fuji from the City.
It is worth noting that Mount Fuji can be observed from twenty out of Japan's forty-seven prefectures, however visibility is extremely weather dependent, so you will also need luck on your side! This is just the tip of the iceberg, and I can't wait to be back already.

Japan has long held a coveted spot on our travel wishlist, a destination brimming with tantalizing sights and flavors just waiting to be explored. Over the years, our social media feeds became filled of must-visit spots and mouthwatering culinary delights, shaping our anticipation for the journey ahead. Drawing from the collective wisdom of friends who've called Japan home and our own wanderings, we meticulously crafted a comprehensive guide to this captivating country.
The process was no small feat, spanning the better part of a year, with our guide taking shape alongside the anticipation of booked flights. Aware of the finite nature of our adventure, we set out to squeeze every drop of experience from our time in Japan.
Yet, with the thought in mind of luggage to lug and trains to catch, it prompted us to narrow our focus to the three bustling hubs of Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. While this guide shines a spotlight on Tokyo's wonders, be sure to peruse our other guides for a taste of what awaits in Osaka and Kyoto.
This guide is an ever-changing list of hidden gems and culinary delights scattered throughout the cityscape. From bustling markets to serene temples, it's a roadmap to unforgettable experiences waiting to be discovered. Plus, we've included a day trip from Tokyo to Fuji for those seeking a taste of seeing the mysterious mountain.
But that's not all. We've packed in a wealth of practical advice to enhance your journey, from navigating the hotel scene to mastering the art of queueing at popular eateries.
Whether you're a high roller, a budget traveler, or somewhere in between, we've got you covered with a range of accommodation and dining options to suit every taste and wallet size.
So buckle up and get ready for an adventure that's as diverse as the city itself.

First time visiting Japan, but looking for an itinerary beyond the Golden Triangle [Tokyo, Kyoto, & Osaka]? This itinerary efficiently combines these cities with smaller traditional villages, serene gardens, the magical nature of the Nagano and Wakayama Prefectures, and small islands. The itinerary is designed for a time span of two weeks onwards. Covering all places in two weeks, like we did, results in a packed planning. By stretching the time span, one can personalize the itinerary; while one person might decide to spend some additional time on Naoshima, others will prefer to book an additional night in the city of Osaka.
Next to the diverse palette of places, this itinerary includes plenty of recommendations for tearooms, restaurants, and hotels.
All pictures are taken by myself.

I can speak from experience as a solo female traveler when I say that booking a hotel, hostel, or bed & breakfast takes a lot of time and careful planning.
Prior to choosing a place to stay, it is important to carefully weigh factors including price, location, amenities, and room alternatives.
I've curated a list of places I've stayed when traveling throughout Japan in this guide.

Shizuoka Prefecture is home to an abundant variety of delicious local specialties, starting with Shizuoka tea, of which Shizuoka Prefecture is a top-class producer 🍵
The number of agricultural, forestry and fishery products produced in Shizuoka is one of the highest in the country, and the number of awards received by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is consistently high, making it a treasure trove of ingredients in both quantity and quality, a ``kingdom of ingredients'' so to speak 🍶
Here’s a variety of exquisite Shizuoka food delights and spots that will satisfy both your stomach and your heart. Be sure to try as many as you can during your Shizuoka trip! 🥣

Sometimes referred to as Japan's riviera, Shizuoka Prefecture (静岡県) is located along the Pacific coast in the south of the Chubu Region 🌊 Its volcanic foothills extend out to the Izu Peninsula, therefore the area is filled with hot springs and resorts ♨️ Shizuoka also produces more than half of all of the green tea in Japan and is the best place to sip sencha (tea made using whole tea leaves) straight from the source 🍵
This is a comprehensive guide with a list of attractions you can add to your Shizuoka itinerary 🌟

Planning a trip to Tokyo can be a bit intimidating. With over 38 million people in the metro area, this is the most populous city in the world.
You know those videos of people being packed like sardines onto a subway car? Yeah, they were probably taken in Tokyo!
The Japanese capital is more like 23 cities, as each of the special wards offers something different. While Asakusa is very traditional, Harajuku is the place to be if you want to take in Japan’s youth culture.
In such a massive city, you won’t be able to see it all in just 72 hours. That being said, you can cover a lot of ground on a Tokyo itinerary if you have a solid plan.

The Izu Peninsula, famous for its breathtaking views and hot springs, is a favorite destination not only among Japanese but also among travelers worldwide. In this guide, we've compiled a list of the most popular luxury ryokans in Izu.
Japanese ryokans often separate rooms available for booking domestically and internationally, so sometimes it's necessary to inquire directly by phone in Japan to confirm availability.
If you need assistance with this, please don't hesitate to reach out.🙌
✅ 7 Ryokans in Southern Izu(南伊豆) / Shimoda(下田)
✅ 7 Ryokans in Western Izu(西伊豆)
✅ 16 Ryokans in Eastern Izu(東伊豆)
✅ 15 Ryokans inCentral Izu(中伊豆)
To be honest, all the places in Izu are fantastic, so choosing can be quite challenging.
If you're looking to relax in hot springs, places like Shuzenji in central Izu or Ito Onsen in eastern Izu are excellent choices.
For those who prefer spending time on the beach, southern and western Izu are known for their breathtaking sunset spots and beautiful beaches🌅
With their luxurious atmosphere and warm hospitality, these ryokans offer the perfect setting for enjoying quality time with your family.✨
