We do love a good local market! Being 'in town' on the right day to catch market day is crucial - sometimes they're daily (or nightly!), some are on Saturdays or Sundays, and some are only on every second weekend or so. So do plan ahead - and don't miss out! We love wandering around and checking out the local products and wares - especially the food!! We're pretty biased and think Salamanca Market in Lutruwita/Tasmania is the best market in the world! Yesssss we know Barcelona's La Rambla Market is pretty darn impressive and we've been to some epic markets in Asia and South America too, but Nipaluna/Hobart packs well above its weight with an amazing local arts, craft and artisan scene, very talented buskers and of course the food is amazing! You can also pick up great handmade souvenirs as well as locally grown fruit, veg and other produce. Australia's markets are not to be missed. Wander through the stalls and rub shoulders with locals and tourists alike. And, of course, in Australia markets are safe (no pick pockets!), are generally accessible (check the website links below for more!) and many are committed to sustainability with biodegradable, recycled or reusable packaging and no single-use plastics in sight. Feel good by supporting local businesses and artists. And if you do feel the need to buy souvenirs - check the labelling and make sure you are buying locally made products whenever you can. OK now we're craving a papaya salad at sunset at Mindil Market in Darwin!!

Hobart (nipaluna) is the capital and largest city of Tasmania. It's also Australia's southernmost state capital. The city sits at the base of Mount Wellington (kunanyi) and on an estuary of the River Derwent along the island's southeast coast. It's home to about half a million people (that's 40% of the total population). This land was occupied by the Aboriginal Tasmanians before the British founded a penal colony 1804. Whalers, miners, farmers, and, eventually, Antarctic explorers, followed. Tourism has only recently begun to dominate the economy. Hobart's historic waterfront has cobblestone streets and sandstone warehouses. They're now full of new hotels, exciting art galleries, and locally sourced markets. Battery Point has colonial cottages and cute cafés. The eery Convict Trail starts here. The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) is just a quick ride up the River Derwent. Mount Wellington hikes offer a great lay of the land. Craft breweries and distilleries keep popping up inside the city; wineries lie just outside. While the restaurant scene is booming. Hobart is more than just a stopover. You should plan to spend at least a few days getting to know Tassie's capital. Only the best spots to shop, wine, dine and get hyped up in the Spanish capital - a modern city that honors its historical heritage. Passionate people from Madrid are all about getting together, enjoying life and art in all its forms. Regardless of the season, Madrid abounds in art venues, cultural manifestations and night life. However, a little bit of shopping won’t hurt either. 😉 Highlights: 🐻 El Oso y el Madroño (the Bear and the Strawberry Tree) - the symbol of the city, is a sculpture from the 2nd half of the 20th century, that represents the coat of arms of Madrid and is found on the east side of the Puerta del Sol, between Calle de Alcalá and Carrera de San Jerónimo, in the historical centre of the capital. 🐂 Corrida de toros - Spanish-style bullfighting, involves a physical contest with humans (and other animals) attempting to publicly subdue, immobilize, or kill a bull. The most common bull used is the Spanish Fighting Bull (Toro Bravo), a type of cattle native to the Iberian Peninsula. This style of bullfighting is seen to be both a sport and performance art. In a traditional corrida, three toreros (or matadores) each "fight" against two out of a total of six "fighting" bulls to death. 💃🏻Flamenco - is an art form (incorporating poetry, singing, guitar playing, dance, polyrhythmic hand-clapping and finger snapping) strongly influenced by the Gitanos, but which has its deeper roots in Moorish musical traditions. Flamenco culture originated in Andalusia, but has since become one of the icons of Spanish music and even Spanish culture in general. 🍖Jamón - is a kind of dry-cured ham that’s at the heart of Spanish culture and cuisine. There exist two great traditions of artisanal cured hams in Spain, both of which are a source of enjoyment and great pride among Spaniards: 1. Jamón Serrano - a cured country ham made from conventional pork. 2. Jamón Ibérico - produced from non-acorn fed pigs (Cerdo Ibérico) or acorn-fed variety which results in Jamón Ibérico de Bellota (considered the world's finest ham). 🥨 Churros - is a type of fried dough, made with choux pastry dough piped into hot oil with a piping bag and large closed star tip or similar shape. They can either be thin (and sometimes knotted) or long and thick, where they are known as porras or jeringos in some regions. Normally eaten for breakfast dipped in champurrado, hot chocolate, dulce de leche or café con leche. 🏟️ Football fans should be very excited about Madrid, as it hosts one of the best teams ever - Real Madrid. It's a sparsely populated region of Australia, land of farmers and abundant wildlife, very green and also a bit cold. After all, it's one of the southernmost places in the world. When it comes to Tasmania, you must see everything, and that's why I organized a six-day road trip that circumnavigated the entire island.

I never really planned to visit Cabo Verde until I ended up there during sailing trip. And I'm so glad I did because it's such an undiscovered gem! So much so that I came back a year later and spend a few weeks exploring the islands. In this guide I'll take you through the two northern islands as I found them the most interesting and beautiful. The focus of the trip is nature, hiking, diving, sun, music and culture. If you're thinking about visiting Cabo Verde take this as your sign, they will not disappoint.
