The Laugavegur Trail is probably Iceland's most famous hiking trail that showcases some of Iceland's most stunning natural landscapes. The trail stretches approximately 55 kilometers (34mi) from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk. Often the trail is combined with the Fimmvörðuháls, which adds another 25 kilometers to Skógar on the ocean in the south.
The terrain is extremely varied. You pass through black lava fields, along geothermal areas with steamy vents and boiling hot springs, over colorful mountains, by white glaciers, through lush green valleys and by some of Iceland's biggest waterfalls.
This guide includes the route and campsites as seen in my Youtube film and is suitable for beginner and experienced backpackers. It is suitable for both camping, as well as overnighting in the refuges along the way.
What this guide includes:
- A flexible itinerary for different lengths and difficulty levels
- Distances, best overnight (camping) options, and other useful waypoints
- Custom Google Maps with all the important locations, such as campsites, grocery stores, airports, trails, public transport stops, and viewpoints
- GPX-tracks of all the routes
- Practical information on how to get there, how to get around, when to go, trail conditions, weather, geography, and more.
- Detailed descriptions of the trekking route, including landmarks, terrain, and elevation changes.

The BEST accommodation options for your trip around ICELAND -for ALL BUDGETS.
Iceland is an incredible country, its dramatic landscapes and tourist infrastructure make it a must visit destination with appeal for all ages. I coordinated and lead an adventure tour here recently and it is honestly one of the most beautiful and magical destinations I have ever been to. In this guide I share my top recommendations for Icelandic accommodation, divided into budget categories.
If you only have a few days and aren't planning to move around much further than the golden circle, or if you won't have access to your own car, my advice would be to stay in Reykjavik for most of your nights and do day trip tours with a stay somewhere special out in the countryside for 1 or 2 nights as a treat.
Iceland doesn't have good public transport links outside of the capital so you really have two options, book onto a tour or it's one of the best places to do a self drive adventure. (If you're planning for Winter, don't let the ice worry you- opt for an SUV and contact the rental place in advance to ask for studs on your tyres)

Iceland is one of my favorite places in the world and I'm excited to share this itinerary, which covers everything you need to have the most perfect week traveling the Ring Road. Plus I've included details about an off-the-beaten-path destination located in the center of the island, which was the highlight of my trip.
I explored Iceland by van and I believe it is the absolute best way to maximize your time on the island. Van travel saves you money since your accommodations, transportation (and meals if you decide to cook in your van) are all in one!
To travel the Ring Road in just a week, you'll need to be prepared to drive a lot (a few hours each day), but you'll see a lot as well!
If you're looking to hike, experience great Icelandic restaurants, be adventurous, and see the best parts of Iceland in 7-days, then this itinerary is for you.
Destinations covered:
📍Partial Golden Circle
📍Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park
📍Skógar
📍Vík
📍Skaftafell
📍Höfn
📍Seydisfjordur
📍Lake Mývatn
📍Akureyri
📍Reykjavík
📍BONUS: Off-the-beaten-path destination (my favorite part of Iceland)
Recommendations included in the itinerary:
✔️Hikes
✔️Restaurants
✔️Two tours
✔️Van rental information
✔️Campsite information
✔️Easy van meal ideas
✔️Local tips and general Iceland information
✔️Packing list to make van life seamless
*This itinerary was created for someone looking to travel to Iceland between May-September.

The first time I came to Iceland was during my university when I got a summer internship in the country. I was way too excited to give up this great opportunity, however, my student budget was not too happy about the costs. I very quickly discovered that Iceland is as expensive as they say but I also discovered it can be explored on a low budget.
In this guide, I'll share with you how you can plan your Iceland trip, on a budget and without a car. From where to stay, how to move around and what to see. If you choose the most basic option (camping and hitchhiking) you can expect 30€ a day. If you prefer hostels and public transport or bus tours you can expect anything from 40 to 150€ a day.
What you'll find in this guide
✔️Public transport options and description of each
✔️Recommendations of accommodations from camping to hostels
✔️Day tour options from Reykjavik
✔️What to do in Reykjavik
✔️Exploring outside Reykjavik and where to go, stay and how to get there

This guide will take you on a journey around the famous ring road that encircles the entire country, visiting some of the finest luxury hotels & lagoons the land of fire & ice has to offer.
Iceland doesn’t do outlandish luxury, here it’s the Scandinavia way. It’s all about the experience wrapped up in a minalmist no-fuss package where quality is king.
When money is no object, Iceland offers some truly unique places to rest your head & treat yourself. There are not many places on earth where you can sleep in glass huts gazing up at the norther lights or sleep so close to an active volcano you can feel the tremors. Once in a lifetime experiences can be found in abundance on this Atlantic island nation. .
