In this 13 day itinerary, you will travel to Reykjavik, the Golden Circle, the South, the East, the North, and part of the West to visit Iceland's most popular spots as well as hidden gems that few know about. It includes an interactive map with LOTS of hotels, restaurants, and spots to visit in Reykjavik (160 spots), the Golden Circle & the South (255 spots), the East (100 spots), the North (80 spots), and part of the West (150 spots) so that you can customize your own trip. This is the exact itinerary we used during our 2021 Summer trip to Iceland.

Hotel Frón is located in downtown Reykjavik close to all the main shops, restaurants, cafés, galleries and museums. It is within walking distance of the Sólfarið (Sun Voyager sculpture), Harpa Concert Hall, Hallgrímskirkja church, Skólavörðustígur (rainbow road), Tjörnin (big pond in the middle of downtown Reykjavik), and many street art hot spots.

Icelandic Cinnamon Roll Recipe
Ingredients:
2 1/4 tsp yeast
2 tbsp warm water
1 small to medium egg
5 3/4 cups 00' pizza flour
1.67 tsp salt
9 tbsp sugar
8 tbsp water
Cinnamon filling:
7 ounces marzipan almond dough
1 1/4 cup sugar
2 sticks butter plus 1 1/2 tbsp butter
9 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
Mix yeast with water and let stand for 10 minutes. Test yeast by adding 1 tsp of sugar.
Add '00 flour, egg, salt, and sugar to yeast and mix with bread/dough beaters. Mix for four minutes on slow and then eight to ten minutes on fast. Shape dough into a ball and place in a bowl. Cover the bowl and put bowl into refrigerator for 24 hours.
Filling: Mix marzipan, sugar, and butter (1 cube at a time). Add cinnamon and mix all together. Texture should be very fine and smooth. Put this in a bowl, cover with Saran wrap, and keep at room temperature over night. Keep some where warm an hour before using.
Roll dough to .07 inches thick. Dough should be 19 1/2 inches wide when rolled. Spread filling all over the dough like putting butter on bread. Roll dough up keeping it nice and tight. Take knife and cut into 12 pieces.
Place buns on oven tray with baking paper tucking ends under bun and gently pushing them down tray. Place saran wrap over buns and allow them to rise at room temperature for two to three hours.
Set oven to 410 degrees fahrenheit. Take bowl and mix two eggs and brush and egg wash each bun. Use sieve to dust each bun with powered sugar (two shakes). Bake for 10-11 minutes.

Fjallkonan restaurant is known for its off the wall cocktails including a bubble bath of Johnny Walker, rose, violet and lemon, and a cinema rum cocktail complete with snacking popcorn, and a candy floss boss martini.
They offer a Ferris wheel of sweets Perfect to share and includes a red velvet cupcake, chocolate fudge cupcake, macarons, coconut tops, “Sara”, brownie bites, chocolate liquorice balls, and snowballs.

Beautiful view overlooking Reykjavik from Hallgrimskirkja. The multi-colored houses dotting the streets of the city, and a huge mountain range in the background, it’s easy to see why this is the best view around!|
You can walk through the inside of the church (as long as there isn't a service going on) for free, but the elevator to the top overlooking the city is paid admission.
