Have you ever dreamt about travelling to Iceland? Here I share the most complete 8-day itinerary along the Ring Road in Iceland!
After having lived in Iceland for more than 1 year, I want to share with you my best tips based on my experience for travelling around one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen and that I like to call home. I’m also sharing special places and not only the most popular ones.
What to consider before reading:
• Personally, I believe that the most enjoyable way to travel around Iceland is by Campervan
• The most important thing to pack is different layers of clothes, no matter what season you are in
• Bare in mind that it's illegal to camp outside campings in Iceland (this is under your own responsibility) and this guide is not focusing on camping sites.
• Be aware of the fast changing and though Icelandic weather.
• Bring eye mask to sleep (there's almost no darkness during the Midnight Sun).
• Feel free to modify the starting point of the road trip (either starting from the South or the West) according to the weather forecast (although it can be unpredictible).
• I would not recommend taking detours that I suggest along the blog if weather conditions are not good.
• Note that the maximum speed limit in Iceland is 90 km/h in main roads, make sure you don't overpass the limit. Traffic fines are very expensive in Iceland, you don't want to pay one! And be careful with sheep! They are constantly crossing the road.
And most importantly, ENJOY YOUR TRIP TO ICELAND!! 😜🇮🇸

North Iceland is home to the Arctic Coast Way (a 550-mile coastal road) and the Diamond Circle (Goðafoss, Mývatn, Dettifoss, Ásbyrgi, and Húsavík). It's filled with rolling farmland, rugged mountains, retreating glaciers, roaring waterfalls, deep canyons, isolated fishing villages, and bubbling hot springs. Akureyri is the largest town outside of the Capital Region. Grímsey straddles the Arctic Circle. Life revolves around the midnight sun and the (nearly) polar night. While nothing is remotely close together. It takes planning and patience to travel around North Iceland. But those with both will be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams.
This detailed guide includes:

Shop: Christmas store
Do: bays, bridges, churches, fjords, geothermal areas, harbors, hikes, lakes, mountains, natural wonders, ponds, rootless cones, scenic drives, thermal baths, tunnels, viewpoints, volcanoes, waterfalls

Iceland is a beautiful place to visit year-round, with the activities changing depending on the time of year you choose to visit. The warmer months are fun to explore this country because the summer sun creates a never-ending amount of time for adventures, seeing the puffin community, and hitting all the must-sees while not worrying about snow.
This guide will give you the best places to hit in town and around the island whether you are planning for day trip excursions, road-tripping around Ring Road, or sticking to one section. This is the list of can't-miss things and places while visiting!
The list below is packed with many options on how to plan for a summer trip to Iceland. First and foremost, you will not be able to see everything on this list if you are going for a week or less, and you will have to make peace with that and get excited to come back. There is so much to do on this island, make sure to give yourself plenty of time for traveling between places and exploring. There are plenty of random pull-offs to explore that might sidetrack from the original plan. Below are tours and activity options to participate in - my suggestion would be to pick 1 or 2 that you are most interested in and make sure to book those.
I have been here several times and there is never a shortage of things to do. If you are looking for a more involved list custom to your desires for the best trip to Iceland, I also offer consultations 1-on-1 to help build the itinerary you desire.

Active volcanoes. Dancing northern lights. Gushing geysers. Massive glaciers. Thermal hot springs. Thundering waterfalls. Iceland is the ultimate adventure destination. How have you not been here yet? It’s finally time. Start in the northernmost capital in the world. Reykjavik is a hip, modern city. Then start exploring the wild coastline, the sheep-filled countryside, the icy interior, and the peaceful islands. There are plenty of black-sand beaches, small fishing villages, turf-roofed houses, and epic hikes along the way. Just remember to pack layers. Sometimes, the Gulf Stream provides moderate temperatures. Other times, it’ll feel like you’re in the Arctic. Also don’t forget the long, dark winters and the 24-hour daylight during the short summers. If you take advantage of Icelandair’s free stopover program—a great excuse to visit Helsinki, Copenhagen, and even Paris—you can keep returning to discover which season you like best.

Check out these top spots in Iceland that are either hidden gems or worth braving the crowds. Most are outdoor experiences, because the reason people visit Iceland is because of the natural beauty.
Sure, summer is the prime time to visit Iceland for the weather, but don’t be fooled—other seasons bring great things too (like the aurora). Iceland's weather changes every five minutes, its bad and good at the same time, and you might just have bad clothing if you're not having a great time. Positive attitudes are required here, and a bit of planning.
I’m Jules, and after a year living, studying, and exploring Iceland, I’m here to share my favorite unforgettable spots. I made a YouTube video showcasing months worth of footage in these locations for those who want a virtual tour. This list is based on that video.
I’ve sprinkled in some cool tips and hidden gems for each place to enhance your visit. Rest assured, I only recommend what I genuinely love. Hopefully we get along.
I’m also crafting a complete guide to every spot I’ve been in Iceland, but for now, I’m bringing you the very best. Less is more anyway, and less overwhelming.
