The Laugavegur Trail is probably Iceland's most famous hiking trail that showcases some of Iceland's most stunning natural landscapes. The trail stretches approximately 55 kilometers (34mi) from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk. Often the trail is combined with the Fimmvörðuháls, which adds another 25 kilometers to Skógar on the ocean in the south. The terrain is extremely varied. You pass through black lava fields, along geothermal areas with steamy vents and boiling hot springs, over colorful mountains, by white glaciers, through lush green valleys and by some of Iceland's biggest waterfalls. This guide includes the route and campsites as seen in my Youtube film and is suitable for beginner and experienced backpackers. It is suitable for both camping, as well as overnighting in the refuges along the way. What this guide includes: - A flexible itinerary for different lengths and difficulty levels - Distances, best overnight (camping) options, and other useful waypoints - Custom Google Maps with all the important locations, such as campsites, grocery stores, airports, trails, public transport stops, and viewpoints - GPX-tracks of all the routes - Practical information on how to get there, how to get around, when to go, trail conditions, weather, geography, and more. - Detailed descriptions of the trekking route, including landmarks, terrain, and elevation changes. 🇮🇸 3-Day Itinerary - Explore Iceland's South Coast. ✨ Must-See places. 💎 Hidden Gems. 👉 Insider info for every stop. ⏰ How long to stay at each spot. 🚗 Drive times. 🏡 Best places to stay. 🍦 Local food. 📸 Photography tips. ☀️ March to October are the perfect months to follow this itinerary, with sufficient daylight to complete everything according to the timing provided and the best chance to have good weather. 📸 The itinerary is timed to arrive at each spot when the light is optimal (March through October) and when the locations are less crowded (fewer tour buses). ☔️ But it's Iceland, so be prepared for some rain and wind. ❄️ November to February: While it’s possible to visit all locations during the winter, there are two challenges: ❄️ Winter driving conditions ☀️ Limited amount of daylight. 👉 More info on driving in Iceland at the bottom of the itinerary. ⚠️ Caution: Trails at Reykjadalur Thermal River & Svartifoss Waterfall could be icy. ☀️ Sunrise will dictate a later start in the winter, but the itinerary should still be doable in 3 days. ⏰ While this itinerary times everything out, including how long it takes to drive to the next stop and how long to spend at each destination... feel free to take it at your own pace. ➡️ When you're ready to head to the next stop simply use the Directions/Go button next to the "address" which links to the map (Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze) to help you navigate.
