First, we hope you're excited! You're going to be exploring one of the most beautiful countries in the world and seeing sights that will have you pinching yourself. With a little bit of preparation and a lot of anticipation, you are guaranteed to have an incredible, unforgettable trip. We hope this guide can support you through the preparation process and simplify planning.

After selecting dates and purchasing flights, it is time to set an itinerary--a task that can be quite difficult considering the incredible number of places to visit in a limited number of days. In order to really experience Iceland to its fullest and catch the majority of the highlights, we recommend renting a camper van (or a car) and spending at least 10 days (8 full days + 2 travel days) in Iceland. While this itinerary can be applied to both camper van and car rental trips, the campsites listed will only be relevant for those renting a camper van, unless you choose to tent camp. We rented a camper van which afforded us flexibility and the opportunity to stay at some truly beautiful and serene campsites.
