Iceland’s Golden Circle with Hidden Gems 🇮🇸

Iceland’s Golden Circle with Hidden Gems 🇮🇸

Wandering Sophia
🇮🇸 2-Day Itinerary for Iceland's Golden Circle. ✨ Must-See places. 💎 Hidden gems. 👉 Insider info for every stop. ⏰ How long to stay at each spot. 🚗 Drive times. 🏡 Best places to stay. 🍦Local food. 📸 Photography tips. ✈️ Getting from the Airport to Reykjavik, including Rental Cars. ☀️ The amount of daylight in Iceland varies greatly throughout the year, but it's possible to do this tour any time of year. ☀️ March to October: The ideal months to visit Iceland, offering sufficient daylight hours to complete this itinerary based on the timing provided. ❄️ November to February: It's possible to do this tour in the winter, all locations should be accessible. ⚠️ Caution: Trails at Helgufoss & hiking to Brúarfoss could be icy. ☀️ Sunrise will dictate a later start in the winter. But the itinerary should still be doable in two days. ⏰ While this itinerary times everything out, including how long it takes to drive to the next stop and how long to spend at each destination… feel free to take it at your own pace. ⏩ When you're ready to head to the next stop, simply use the Directions/Go button next to the "address" which links to the map (Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze) to help you navigate.

⏳ THE PLAN: Stay at Guesthouse Sunna the night before you start your Golden Circle adventure!

👇 Other Hotel Recommendations are listed below.

Guesthouse Sunna
@WanderingSophia
❤️ Guesthouse Sunna is my favourite place to stay in Reykjavik! 🇮🇸 Sunna isn't fancy; no plush bathrobes or luxe toiletries. But Iceland’s expensive, and Guesthouse Sunna offers excellent value. 🛏️ Rooms are simple and spotless with cozy duvets. 👉 Central location, right next to Hallgrímskirkja (Reykjavik's dramatic cathedral). 🥄 Communal kitchens for self-catering. 🚗 Small (free) parking lot for guests. 🍎 Option to pay for breakfast: Yogurt, cereal, bread, jam, cold cuts, cheese, fruit and hard-boiled eggs. 👉 The guesthouse offers a range of rooms, from single rooms with shared bathroom to larger rooms, some with balconies and your choice of private or shared bathrooms.

Brauð & Co
@WanderingSophia
🥐 Brauð & Co. is an awesome bakeshop in Reykjavik. 👉 It's the perfect spot to pick up a grab-and-go breakfast or car snacks. 🍞 And if you're self-catering, their breads are amazing for toast and sandwiches. 😋 Spoiler Alert! Everything from their cookies, croissants, and muffins are delicious! But if you want to try something Icelandic, go for: ❤️ Hjónabandssæla - Happy Marriage Cake: This cake is made with homemade rhubarb jam and topped with buttery, crumbly oats. It's one of the best things to eat in Iceland. 🐌 Snúður: These swirled pastries, called “snails,” are popular throughout Scandinavia. The ones at Brauð & Co. are some of the best around! 😋 Available in delicious flavours like cinnamon, caramel & muesli, and cardamom. 😊 Vínarbrauð: A long and flaky pastry with jam or custard in the middle, dusted with sugar and almond slices or a drizzle of icing. HOURS: 6:30 am - 5 pm
