It's time to get out of the city. New York City is always exciting, but it can be completely exhausting. You need to breathe fresh air and stretch your legs. You want to hike up a mountain, jump into a lake, search for waterfalls, sip seasonal IPAs, taste freshly picked veggies, and try to ski for the first time in, well, way too long. It's a good thing the Catskill Mountains are so close.
The Catskills are part of the Appalachian Mountains. They cover nearly 6,000 square miles in southeastern New York and sit about 100 miles northeast of New York City. On the eastern edge, the mountains rise steeply from the Hudson Valley along the Hudson River.
The area became a popular summer escape in the mid-20th century. All-season, outdoor activities--from fishing and hiking to cross-country skiing and snowboarding--are now the biggest draws. Old lodges and motels are being turned into boutique hotels. Plus, in the last few years, new bakeries, bike paths, bookstores, breweries, coffee shops, farm-to-table restaurants, ice cream shops, and record stores have been popping up on a seemingly weekly basis. The Catskills are cool again.
Since it's impossible to see everything in the Catskills during one trip, this guide focuses on the Northern Catskills, including the towns of Catskill, Hunter, Palenville, and Windham.
This detailed guide includes:
Places: hamlets, towns, villages
Stay: cabins, hotels, lodges
Eat: bagels, cafes, pizzerias, restaurants
Drink: breweries, cideries
Shop: farm stands, record stores
Do: forests, gardens, hikes, lakes, ledges, lookouts, mountains, rocks, trails, waterfalls
Transportation: parking lots
Note: I travel to the Catskills frequently, so this guide will be updated.

Welcome to the Faroe Islands!
September is a fabulous month for those yearning to explore the secluded Faroe Islands. The autumn in Faroe Islands will slowly roll in and the magical colours of the Arctic grass carpet on the mountains will start to show. In early September everything is still lush green but will softly transform to colours of yellow, orange and red as the bright evenings of summer are taken over by the darker nights of autumn.
The Faroe islands are truly a magical place. Located half way between Scotland and Iceland in the Northeast Atlantic, the Faroe Islands are an archipelago of 18 mountainous islands, with a total land area of 1,399 square kilometres, a sea area of 274,000 square kilometres and a population of 50,000. The language of the Faroe Islands is Faroese.
The average day temperature in September is 9° C (48° F). Snow is very unlikely. The temperature will be quit stable never getting below 5° C and above 15° C.
Expect hoovering wind to blow in your face while you are out immersing yourself in the wilderness. Rain can from time to time drop almost horizontally and waterfalls along the mountains might just as well flow upward than drop down.

Georgetown is the gateway to Guanella Pass, a stunning scenic drive that takes you right through a series of epic peaks. The town itself is quaint and historic, with a small walkable downtown and beautiful views. Located just 45 min. drive from Downtown Denver, this area is such a gem. It's often passed by for trips a little further into the mountains, we highly recommend a stop!
Inside you'll find suggested itineraries for two days of fun, that include:
-Lodging options
-Restaurant options with fall-forward vibes (ALL include gluten free & vegetarian options)
-Best hikes for viewing foliage, all in the easy-moderate range of difficulty
-Suggestions for scenic leaf-peeping drives
-Suggestions for epic sunset-viewing spots
The best part is that ALL of these spots are vetted and dog-friendly, meaning you never have to make arrangements for leaving your doggo behind if you don't want to.

Sarajevo is FULL of restaurants, cafes and bars for you to enjoy. The Bosnian coffee is one of my favorite things. Take some time and enjoy the full experience instead of trying to take it to go.
Make a reservation for the fancier places, especially if you want to sit outside with your dog.
The attitude towards dogs here is well mixed. Some people are very friendly with your dog and insist on giving treats and water. Others will jump out of the way and across the street when they see you coming. We only saw a total of 4 stray dogs during our stay and they seemed uninterested in our dog. The other local pets were a bit more territorial, so keep a respectful distance.
