This travel guide to Zanzibar (also known as Unguja Island) is the result of my experience as a solo female traveler in this part of Tanzania and dozens of hours of research. I have included activities and day trips ranging from historical, architectural and cultural sites, as well as other activities such as diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, cave exploring, visits to lush, green forests, and safaris that you can do from Zanzibar. I have also included specific information on Zanzibar's most beautiful and tourist-friendly coastal areas (Nungwi, Jambiani, Paje, Kiwengwa, Pongwe and Bwejuu), such as: what activities are best suited to each area, as well as different accomodation and eating out options in each beach destination. Most importantly, I have included valuable information on travel safety, visas, entry requirements, local currency and how to get around Zanzibar Island. This way, you don't have to be too bothered by the logistics and more boring aspects of travel planing. I've got you covered! Looking to explore Ireland down the country road less traveled? The west of Ireland is the perfect place to unplug, unwind and experience the true heart of Ireland. I love traveling as much as I possibly can and live by two travel rules. Firstly, I have to have at least one trip booked at all times and secondly, I have to visit at least one new place each year. I went on my first flight at two-weeks old (to Ireland funnily enough) and I’ve been back to visit every year since. It’s the only exception I make to rule #2.  I’m a third culture kid meaning I was raised in a country other than where my parents were raised. I was born in London to an Irish mother (who was born in Arizona but raised in Ireland) and an English father (who was born and raised in Singapore). We moved to Connecticut when I was 6, Hong Kong when I was 13 and back to Connecticut when I was 15. In an effort to keep my brothers and I in touch with our maternal Irish roots, we spent eight-weeks each summer on the west coast of Ireland in Spanish Point, County Clare.  Spanish Point is a little seaside village along the Wild Atlantic Way about 45 minutes from Shannon Airport named after two boats part of the Spanish Armada that shipwrecked off the coast in 1588. It’s a perfect little spot to retreat to with lush, green, rolling hills, breathtaking cliffs, freshest air, and friendliest people. There are so many things to do within a ~30-minute drive from Spanish Point making it the perfect place to stay without spending too much time stuck in the car. There is so much to see in this tiny but wonderful country and you might feel pressured to bop all over the place to squeeze in as much as you possibly can. If you take anything away from this piece, it's to lean into slow travel. Ireland is the perfect place to enjoy the journey instead of just the destination, immerse yourself in local culture and connect with charming locals. Plan your trip to have no real set agenda at all. You’ll be so surprised at what you stumble upon. 

Sweden is a Scandinavian nation with thousands of coastal islands and inland lakes, along with extensive boreal forests and snow-capped mountains. It is also one of the perfect areas for hunting the northern lights at the right time.

Montréal is the largest city in Canada’s French-influenced province of Québec. It is named after Mount Royal, the stunning triple-peaked hill at the city’s center. The city itself is located on the largest island of the Hochelaga Archipelago off of the Saint Lawrence River; nine bridges of various sizes and designs connect Montréal to the surrounding areas. This guide outlines coffee shops, food, and activities.

In May 2022, my fiancé and I spent five nights on Koh Phangan, a gorgeous island in the Gulf of Thailand. We beach hopped, snorkeled, swam in waterfalls, and enjoyed an incredible sunset dinner. After researching weather, the islands in the Gulf seemed like our best bet for sunshine in May. With very occasional afternoon showers while we were there, that bet paid off.

Fiji is one of the places that has been on my bucket list for a while, and certainly didn't disappoint. With so many islands in Fiji, there's not enough time to fit it all in one trip -- which simply means you just need to go back! This itinerary focuses on the Mamanuca Islands and the Yasawa Islands.

Food is the ultimate way to capture my heart, and St. Thomas certainly didn't disappoint. It’s in the laughter shared with locals over a meal, the quiet moments of reflection by the sea, and the simple joy of discovering hidden corners of the island. Each visit leaves an imprint on my soul, a longing to return to its embrace, where life feels uncomplicated and the heart feels lighter. 2024 Edition! This is the ultimate 7-day itinerary for Madeira if you want to travel by car. The island, located 1000 kilometers from Portugal in the Atlantic ocean, is often referred to as the Hawaii of Europe with its rough mountains and steep cliffs.
