Best of Madeira 7-Day Itinerary by car
How to use this guide
Please always read the entire day before you leave. We give you different options for some days and we don't want you to miss a nice place you would have liked to see instead of the one you visited. Your arrival and departure days are not included! We assume that you fly from weekend to weekend, so you have 8-9 days.
Good to know, before you go!
What is the best time to visit?
Madeira, the Island of flowers, is the perfect year-round destination. With its mild temperatures, it offers the ideal climate for those who love the great outdoors. Madeira has excellent walking temperatures throughout the year. Even in Winter you can enjoy plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Madeira has become very popular on social media in the last 1-2 years, so there will be months with more people than others. The best time to visit Madeira for less crowds in our experience is November, January and February. If you want to avoid the crowds, skip December. Madeira is beautifully decorated for Christmas and its New Year's fireworks are famous and truly beautiful. If this is your first visit to the island, we still recommend you to visit at another time. We have never experienced the island as full as when we visited it for New Year's Eve. Also avoid Easter holidays and European summer school breaks. Our favorite months to visit are September, October and May, when it is less crowded and the weather is great for outdoor adventures.
