Within my five years of living in Munich, I've genuinely always loved the city from the bottom of my heart (and stomach). This is for various reasons, one of which is that I was lucky enough to have a job that allowed me to try out new cafés, bars, and restaurants around the city, which, in-between cobblestone streets and ornate facades, regularly sprang up from the ground like snowdrops in early spring.
Luckily, I somehow got paid to do that, which was an extreme relief to my lifestyle-exhausted wallet, given the sheer number of aperitifs, sushi platters, club entries, and pasta bowls consumed.
Over the years, the following hospitality havens and pretty places around town turned into my go-to comfort spots. And since there's always some public holiday in Christian Bavaria, every time Jesus chewed on a blade of grass, let's just assume that a weekend in Munich generally lasts for three days – and, that each day automatically unfolds like this: breakfast, lunch, aperitif in the sun, dinner, bar, club (or another bar).
HAVE FUN EXPLORING!

Beat the Tipping Point: Plan a Trip to Luang Prabang NOW (with these expert tips)
This guide includes where to eat and drink, where to stay, what to do, and where to work remotely in Luang Prabang, Laos — a sublime little city on the confluence of the mighty Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. Luang Prabang is a must-visit in your explorations of Southeast Asia. Orange robe-clad monks stroll the streets lined with historic French architecture. Welcome smiles, delicious cuisine, and ancient wats all await you at this UNESCO world heritage destination. With thoughtful new investment from savvy local business owners and French and Swiss expats who were stuck here (and fell in love) during Covid, the town is at a perfect inflection point of old and new. You can sit down to a bowl of soup on the sidewalk, dine at a 5-star hotel, and sip an IPA at a trendy cafe — all within a few blocks of each other. But hurry, Luang Prabang is not too far from the visitor tipping point.

Charleston remains a top travel destination (Travel + Leisure just ranked it as the "Best City in the U.S. to visit" for its 11th consecutive year), but that also means the options of where to stay in this southern foodie town continue to grow.
Take it from a local who lived and works downtown - there are plenty of options and they all are not created equal. You want historic charm paired with modern amenities, and bonus points for walkability so you can enjoy those cobblestone streets and and an excuse for a nightcap.
These local hotel recommendations have all those things and each offer their own unique flair. The list is roughly ordered from most to least expensive, but may vary by season and availability.
