Where to: best places in Rome to eat (according to an Italian 🤌🏻😘)
So you’re in one of the best cities in the world (unbiased), finding yourself stuck by the volume of amazing restaurants on every corner and the unlimited choice on where to go.
Curated with over 27 years of experience, including 12 years of living in Italy and a very large extended Italian family who has lived there a combined total of over 300 years… we’ve just about got you covered.
I am lucky enough to visit Rome to see my family every few months, and I’m still in awe of how much there is to discover, from eating new foods you didn’t even know were local, sight seeing and discovering ancient ruins which still happens on a regular basis here … one trip (my dad even said lifetime!) will never be enough to find out everything that there is.
This is mostly a hobby for me, and all I ask in return is to please leave a review or comment on my channels! 😊
Ciao 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Some of the best places to eat while you’re there:
1. Osteria da Fortunata - head here for the best traditional Amatriciana, made with lots of rich Italian bacon and fresh home made pasta. 🍝
2. If you have a Soho House membership or guest access, head to Soho House Rome for amazing panoramic views of Rome and a to die for truffled burrata. 🧀
3. The W Hotel in Rome has 360 views of the city, with views over the Altar of the Fatherland which is a personal favourite. They do amazing mini Lasagnas and their current pop up pizza is raved about as one of the best in Italy. 🍕
4. Rome is renowned for its “pizza al taglio” spots, serving long pieces of pizza which are cut to your liking (or extra liking) and to go. Alice Pizza is one of the most traditional and popular ones with the locals, with a few dotted round the city you won’t struggle to find one nearby. 🇮🇹
6. Another entry for the W again. This is the current pizza pop up that they have, we opted for the traditional Margherita, plenty of basil and mozzarella, always. 🌿

Osteria da Fortunata’s main dishes - the amatriciana, fresh pasta with thick guanciale. Too good 🐽

Wondered what pizza al taglio looks like? Alice pizza has plenty to chose from… simply chose your size and they’ll cut to it 🔪

Final tips ⭐️ :
Obviously there are hundreds of amazing little bars and cafes to visit as well, and you could spend too long trying to wade through them.
If you’re wanting local - stick to places without pictures and prices outside designed to lure in tourists for a quick spend of their cash. Try quaint back streets for the original restaurants just like “mamma” used to make. Italians are extremely patriotic, and know their stuff when it comes to food and where to go - they take a lot of pride in eating the best of the best.
