I am a person that loves slow-travelling, loves eating where the locals eat and I like to think I have a good taste when it comes to food. I am also tired of all the bad touristic places that are recommend all over google and by tour guides. I often see on YouTube or TikTok tourist who come to Bucharest and are send by food guides to tourist traps where the people from Bucharest do not eat and where the ingredients are of poor quality. So I decided to present you my take on Bucharest food. Expect a lot of local ingredients, in-season ingredients, delicious dishes and amazing stories. This guide is going to be divided into Lunch/Dinner Places, Brunch Places (here I have some incredible recommendations) and Places with Romanian food (authentic restaurants that offer local and in-season ingredients). For all the places I added their instagram account as I believe this is the quickest way to see how the dished look like and to find their website for reservations.

Rome, the eternal city, captivates visitors with its timeless allure and monumental history. Steeped in over 2,000 years of civilization, every corner tells a story of ancient empires, Renaissance art, and modern vitality. A visit to the Colosseum, the grand amphitheater that once hosted gladiatorial contests, offers a glimpse into the grandeur of ancient Rome, while the Roman Forum nearby serves as an open-air museum of political and social life in antiquity. Beyond the ruins, Vatican City beckons with the awe-inspiring St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums, home to Michelangelo's masterpiece, the Sistine Chapel ceiling.
Wandering through Rome's cobblestone streets, visitors encounter an endless array of architectural marvels, from the majestic Pantheon to the elegant Spanish Steps. Each piazza invites leisurely strolls and indulgent dining experiences, where traditional trattorias serve up delectable Roman cuisine alongside world-class wines. Embrace the city's dolce vita spirit with a leisurely passeggiata along the Tiber River or a sunset vista from the romantic Gianicolo Hill. With its blend of ancient grandeur and modern charm, Rome promises an unforgettable journey through the heart of Italy's cultural legacy.

For my first solo trip to Italy, I picked Milan for a few different reasons. During my trips, I focus on architecture, culture, and art. Milan's architecture and art are key attractions, with the city playing a significant role in Italy's architectural and artistic history. It has also been a birthplace for several modern art movements. Though few remnants of the Roman era remain, the well-preserved Colonne di San Lorenzo stands out. Milan's Cathedral, constructed between 1386 and 1877, is the largest church in Italy and the third largest in the world.
Milan is acknowledged as one of the world's top four fashion capitals. The city is home to the headquarters of several renowned luxury fashion brands. It also hosts major international events and exhibitions, including Milan Fashion Week.
It may not be the typical Italian little village, but insted it is a city filled with a long, beautiful history to be discovered. And in this itinerary, I will provide you with a step-by-step guide, highlighting the most important spots.

Did you ever wonder where "bolognese sauce" comes from? Well, this guide is finally going to answer that question! Bologna has so many things to offer I don't even know where to begin. Let me give you some reasons why you should read this guide:
- Bologna's Airport (BLQ) and Central train station connect the city to the rest of the country, all of Europe and several international destinations SUPER EASILY
- It's not cheap, but definitely cheaper than big cities like Rome, Venice or Florence. Because of its train station you might even consider staying in a smaller town nearby and saving money that way.
- You will be able to avoid huge crowds of tourists while experiencing local-living, especially thanks to the thousands of students who attend the University of Bologna.
- Whether you also want to spend a few days by the beach or go get some fresh air in the mountains, you will have the chance to do both!

In 2017, I studied abroad for a semester in Florence, Italy, and just about died and went to pasta heaven! From January through May, I ate like a queen. I honestly have no idea how I afforded to eat out as much as I did. But it was worth every cent!
As soon as I was confirmed into the Lorenzo de'Medici program, various friends of friends sent their recommendations and guides for Florence to me. I inherited a wealth of inside knowledge about Florence like the secret bakeries, wine windows, and where to find the cute bartenders. I referred to these guides religiously in the first few weeks of getting my footing before establishing my own favorites around the city and starting my own Florence food guide.
There's no doubt in my mind that there are newer additions to the Florence restaurant scene since I was there in 2017. This is just a compilation of my favorite places in Florence from someone who lived there for 5 months! This food guide is like my original Google Doc bullet point list had a baby with my food Instagram, @my600lblife. I've removed any eateries that are no longer in business but kept all my original commentary from 20-year-old Maeve who apparently was only concerned a good deal. Some of them make me giggle and cringe a little but they're authentically me and it's just like my favorite saying, "If you're not cringing, you're not growing."
I've included a lengthy list of tips for dining in Italy, a breakdown of the Italian courses and their English translation, and of course, my favorite (and not so favorite) restaurants in Florence including pasta, pizza, panino, caffe, aperitivo, gelato & more! Please tag me on any pictures on Instagram (@maevecutts) so I can live vicariously through your travels to Florence!
As always, I'm happy to help you plan a custom itinerary for your trip to Florence! Just reach out to me directly (:
