Hvar is so much more than just a party island, and the town of Hvar itself. When I was recommended to go there I was a skeptical, but as soon I set foot on the island it stole my heart.
It's beautiful, it's wild and rugged, it's also full of nature and peaceful places and good restaurants. It's well worth a visit if you want to go off the beaten path and take the time to get to know it. In order to do that, you will need a car.

During my 7 months travelling Europe last year, I visited Split 3 times, including a one month stay volunteering at a party hostel, so you could say I'm a pretty big fan of this city!
I didn't learn to speak much Croatian, but I did start to feel more like a local and know my way around the beautiful city and surroundings.
This guide will detail some of my favourite things to do in this gorgeous Old Town, including places to eat, drink, party, beaches, day trips and more!

Planning a trip to Split, Croatia? Find out in this article the best things you need to add to your itinerary, recommendations for private guided tours and for accommodation.
Split is Croatia’s second-largest city and should be included in your itinerary if you plan to visit this country. Paint this picture: a maze of narrow streets, colorful buildings, historic landmarks, cobblestoned lanes and a beautiful promenade with palm trees, sounds pretty amazing, right?! To be honest, it was one of my favorite cities in Croatia (only second after Dubrovnik).
