Gdańsk, Poland. Travel Guide: Sights, Drinks & Eats.

Welcome to Gdańsk! A Polish port city on the Baltic Coast. Rich with history, Gdańsk was home to the first battles of WW2. Today, the city has been mostly reconstructed and has evolved into a colorful, and energetic city, reminiscent of a Polish-Amsterdam. While touristy, especially in nearby Sopot, you can still find lots of phenomenal cafes, bars, and restaurants throughout the city, at any hour of the day. Before you go, be sure to pick up some amber souvenirs as Gdańsk is the center of the world's amber trade. From this guide, you'll get to know the city and learn what to expect, it includes: 🗺️ Google Maps Version. 📍 Places of Interest. 🏨 Accommodations: Hostels & Hotels. (Adding Soon) 🍽️ Restaurants: Of all prices. ☕ Cafés. 🥐 Sweet Treats: Such as Pączki. 🍺 Bars & Clubs. 🎟️ Recommended Tours. A lot of work went into this guide. 👀 Places of Interest

⭐ Museum of the Second World War
@TbisTer
A national museum, established in 2008, it is devoted to explaining and demonstrating the atrocities of WW2, not holding back. Absolutely a must-do while in Gdansk, as it's incredibly well done. It takes roughly 3 hours to complete the museum. Purchase tickets online well before to avoid lines and waiting.

⭐ Museum of the Polish Post Office
@TbisTer
The story of the back gardens of the Post Office is the most notable thing about it, having been the place of the first casualties from WW2, when the Germans swarmed the post office.  The wall behind the building shows sobering pictures and hand-prints of the victims, a must see.

⭐ Westerplatte
@TbisTer
A must-go while in Gdansk, Leading up to WW2 this was the location of the Polish Military, which was fired upon first by Germans- initiating WW2. There are frequent city buses from Gdansk, which are a few PLN. A more convenient, but expensive way to get here is with a boat tour which leaves from the canals running through Gdansk.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Born from a passion for exploration, out of Toronto. Travel has taken me all over North America and Europe! I've gotten the opportunity to leave Canada, and live in Finland, Germany, and Poland. At the same time, having traveled to 18 countries! From those opportunities, I started crafting and sharing my maps which I feel provide a sense of exploration and recommendations that others can use to create their own memorable experiences. Each map is handcrafted, both from personal experience and local recommendations. They're a go-to way to learn what each new place you visit has to offer. Whether it's to help plan a dream trip abroad or explore more of what your own backyard has to offer, check out my collection of ready-to-go maps or let me create one for yourself.
