Monika Kasprzycka
"A cruise to Westerplatte offers a unique way to explore one of Poland's most significant historical sites. Departing from Gdańsk, the scenic boat ride takes you along the Motława River, passing the city's iconic landmarks before reaching Westerplatte, the site where World War II began. As you approach, the imposing Westerplatte Monument comes into view, standing as a tribute to the Polish soldiers who defended the peninsula. The cruise provides not only beautiful views but also a deeper connection to the history and heroism of this pivotal location."
Anastasiia Tereshchenko
" Westerplatte is historically significant for being where the first clash of World War II occurred on September 1, 1939. Initially serving as a Polish military transit depot, it became the scene of intense fighting when German forces attacked, marking the war's outbreak. Today, Westerplatte is a memorial to those events, featuring ruins of military structures, monuments, and a museum dedicated to the defenders. It's a poignant reminder of the war's beginnings and a place of reflection and education for visitors."

"A must-go while in Gdansk, Leading up to WW2 this was the location of the Polish Military, which was fired upon first by Germans- initiating WW2. There are frequent city buses from Gdansk, which are a few PLN. A more convenient, but expensive way to get here is with a boat tour which leaves from the canals running through Gdansk."
