Day 1 - Arrival

On the day of Arrival, we prefer keeping the things a little light, but at the same time, we try not to waste the entire day.

In Prague we will start first day by exploring the beautiful Old town. The first place that we will visit is the Powder Tower.

There is an option to climb this tower (entree fees needs to be paid). And from there you can get a nice view of town.

Continuing from the Powder tower, we will head to the old town square. This road is beautiful and has a lot of shops and museums. If you want a quick bite or drink, feel free to grab it here.

When we reach the old town square, the first building we see will be the Church of Our Lady before Týn.

This church is absolutely gorgeous!!! And the square in front of it is also great. During peak travel season the square is full of a lot of tourists, and you can stay here for people watching and enjoying the gorgeous architecture of the nearby buildings. There are also restaurants and bars nearby, that you can enjoy.

Right at the Old town square, is the famous Astronomical clock.

The Prague astronomical clock, installed in 1410, is third oldest astronomical clock in the world, and it is the only one which is still functioning. Every hour, the clock bells start going off, and you can see a little performance of the statues that are inside the clock.

It's also possible to enter the clock tower (Entry fees), and enjoy the view from the top.

Near the old town square, there are a lot of cute streets that you'd walk in to take in the beautiful sights of the city. There are also plenty of snacks and food options available, in addition to some great museums.

If you want to grab a pizza, we recommend visiting Pizzeria Donna. They had great pizzas.

After exploring the area a bit, we will head to the famous Charles Bridge. On the way to the bridge, you will see a lot of places selling Trdelník, do grab one if you enjoy sweet dishes.

Charles Bridge is a very old stone bridge, which connects Prague old town with New city. The views from the bridge are absolutely gorgeous, and the bridge is often very crowded. We were in Prague for 3 days, and on all 3 days, we used to end our day on the bridge, taking it views of the castle and the river.

After Charles bridge, you can explore the old town again, or grab some dinner and head back to the hotel.

Day 2

You should try and start a bit early for day 2, as there is a lot to cover!!!

Start the day with visiting the Prague castle.

The Prague castle is amazing and we spent hours here. The castle has both paid and free areas. We didn't buy the tickets and only covered the free areas of the castle.

To reach the castle, you can either take the tram which will drop you at the Malostranská and hike up the stairs, or you can change to another tram which will drop you at Pražský hrad stop. The second option is much more convenient and you will not feel tired.

Before you enter the castle, a security check will be done.

Once you are inside, you will be greeted with the beautiful sights of the St. Vitus cathedral.

St. Vitus Cathedral is an amazing building, but it gets crowded too quickly. So if you are planning to enter the cathedral, join the queue immediately. We made the mistake of not joining the queue, and 15 mins later, the queue was at least 2 hours long.

After covering the cathedral, you can explore rest of the palace area. When you reach the back side of the palace, you will see walls where you can sit and soak in the gorgeous views of the city. Do not miss this. This was one of our favourite view points from the palace.

Instead of taking the tram back, I would suggest walking down the stairs and reaching the Malostranská stop again. From here, you can either walk, or take a tram to reach the Petrin tower.

Petrin Tower is based on top of the Petrin hill. You can either hike up, or take the Funicular train. The Funicular train is already covered as part of the day pass, which we highly recommend buying.

Once you reach the hill, explore the area and walk toward the tower. Once inside, you will need to purchase tickets to go to the top of the tower. There is an entry ticket, which you must pay, and an optional ticket to use the elevator. If you don't want to use the elevator, then you can climb 299 stairs to reach the top. (When we visited the elevator wasn't working, so we had to climb).

Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of both the city of Prague and the beautiful castle. Those views made climbing the steps absolutely worth it.

After covering the tower, you can spend some time in the gardens there, or come down, to explore further.

If you are hungry, we highly recommend trying some Dosas and Uttapam at the Dosa Dosa Bistro.

After viewing two of the most beautiful things in Prague, and enjoying the delicious food at Dosa Dosa bistro, we will head out to explore the beautiful street of Mala Strana.

From Mala Strana, the Lennon wall is close by, and even though we can take a tram for that, we highly recommend walking.

Fun fact, Lennon has never visited Prague. But this wall still exists, and is gorgeous.

From the wall, you should start walking again to the Charles Bridge. After crossing the Charles bridge, go under the bridge, and you will find the boat tour offices. We highly recommend booking one during sunset.

We took 2 hours tour, and it was absolutely amazing. The city of Prague looks even more amazing when the lights are on.

After the boat tour, you can spend some more time on the Bridge, or head to a local bar to enjoy some Pilsner Urquell and some snacks.

Day 3 - Departure

On the third day, it will be time to say Goodbye to this beautiful city of Prague. But we still have some time to explore some more places in the city.

We recommend starting the day with having coffee at this beautiful cafe.

From here, we will take trams/buses and head to the Dancing House.

Dancing house felt like an oddity. The area was absolutely wonderful with lot of old buildings and amazing architecture, and then there was the dancing house, which felt much modern, and also bit odd in that part of town.

Right in front of the tower, there is another bridge. This bridge is also great for taking in some views of the palace.

After covering the Dancing house, we will visit the rotating head of Franz Kafka. The head rotates in a rhythm and you can see all the plates moving in a systemised form of chaos. Right in front of this, is starbucks if you want to grab a coffee.

How to travel inside Prague

Prague is a very beautiful and cheap city, and same will be reflected in all the restaurants and cafes that you will visit, as well as their public transport.

We recommend buying the 48/72 hours pass using the app. It's very cheap and comes in handy. The pass also cover funicular train to Petrin tower, which otherwise will cost almost same as the day pass.

Where to stay in Prague

Grandior Hotel Prague
@manish

The reason we recommend this hotel is it's proximity from the flix bus stop (5 mins walk) and from the old town (10 mins walk).

This hotel also has a lot of good cafes, eateries nearby and public transport right in front of it, making it a great place to stay.

Other options that we recommend are:

MOOo by the Castle
