THE FOOD

Guaranteed Italy food experience (e.g., lunch spot)

Amazing food, cute place super friendly service. The Carbonara is excellent and that is a must have when in the birth place of the dish. Be also sure to eat cacio e pepe when in Rome!

On the go: Arancini and Suppli

Arancini being stuffed and fried rice balls and Suppli being fried risotto balls. They have many flavors and are quite filling, so get a few and share to try several flavors. Arancini is Sicilian cuisine and Suppli is a Roman (Lazio area) classic. Amazing as a snack!

On the go: Gelato

Super old gelato spot. Due to the location prices have gone up here but you can find good Gelato all over. Just make sure the gelato is presented in circular tubs (not rectangular), I have been told this is how you spot the best places.

On the go: Aperol, Campari or limoncello Spritz

Almost all places will make you a cocktail for takeaway. Much nicer to sightsee with a drink in hand! For example we grabbed a drink just next to Pantheon and enjoyed the people and sun! Normal takeaway price is 6-7€ for reference (and avoid overpaying)

On the go: Espresso and coffee flavors

Hands down best espressos (after meal in restaurants or in the go) or go for an espresso martini!

THE COCKTAILS AND WINE

Wine bar and people watch

Cute place to sit and try amazing wines, the olives here are also superior!

THE SIGHTS

Chill city views

Bring drinks and snacks and watch the day turn into the night, or visit during the day for a chill rest and great views. There is a bit of a climb to this place, but nothing too bad.

The colosseum walk around

Just outside is fine, the inside is not worth the time. Walk around to find cool picture spots.

The Roman forum

A short walk from the Colosseum you can find the Roman Forum which is amazing (this might be worth the visit also closely and pay a ticket, but have not experienced that myself)

Spanish steps and Piazza di Spagna

Great place to watch the sunset free! Just be prepared for crowds and get there early.

Fontana di Trevi

Equally cool during the day and the night. If you can, try to see it (and toss a coin) in both lightings

Pantheon

There is a huge line, which you can bypass by buying a ticket online. Look for QR code near the entrance, buy the ticket (around 5€) and walk in.

VENTURES OUTSIDE ROME CENTRE

Early birds Vatican City

The only way I recommend to see the Vatican City is a early bird tour (book well in advance). The tour starts about 7am but you get to access the sites before the main crowds, avoid lining up for hours and get tour guide which will ensure you get the most out of the visit. The whole thing is over around 9:30-10:00am

‌Less crowded and peaceful! Buy tickets in advance for the museum bacause they limit the amount of salit visitors. The surrounding park is also worth the visit!
