6 Copenhagen Musts

6 Copenhagen Musts

Sophie Anna Everhard
I've only been to Scandinavia once, and I went in the heart of winter. If I could have only done six things during my time in Copenhagen, these are ones that make the cut! Be sure to follow me on IG (@sophieeanna) & TikTok (@sophieeeanna) for more travel tips.

1. Enjoy a meal at Seks

Seks

I ended up here for brunch twice. I’m partial to the spot because they have an amazing neon sign that says “redheads do it better” (which is a fact 👩‍🦰). The cafe is vibrant and colorful, full of inspiration and mementos from the owners travels. PS. the wifi password is “yesyesyes”

2. Visit the Ny Carlsberg Glyptoteket

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek
@sophieeanna
Gorgeous art museum in Copenhagen, Denmark with a jaw-dropping greenhouse atrium. It houses the private art collection of Carl Jacobsen, the son of the founder of the Carlsberg Breweries.

The museum’s collection consists primarily of “works of art and archaeological objects from Ancient Egypt, the worlds of Ancient Greece and Rome, Etruscan Culture, as well as Danish and French art of the 19th century.” I was lucky enough to see a special exhibition, The Art of Conserving a Masterpiece, featuring Edgar Degas’ Little Dancer Aged 14 (1881), a classic.

A new favorite by Danish artist Harald Giersing:

3. Experience winter bathing (sauna session required!)

Islands Brygge
@sophieeanna
Year round (yes, even in winter) open air swimming right in the centre of the city.

Ok ok ok so I sort of chickened out on this one and just spent the day at Aire Ancient Baths instead (where I did do a cold plunge!) but if you’re going to Copenhagen do as the Danes do and take a nice dip in one of the many public swimming areas.

Aire
@sophieeanna
You don't need to get a treatment to enjoy the Ancient Aire Baths. A relaxing spa where you can hot tub, cold plunge, float, steam and sauna.

4. Snag some vintage from Lula’s

Lula
@sophieeanna
A treasure trove of designer and thrifted vintage. A small shop, can only fit about 3 or 4 shoppers comfortably, but decent prices and an amazing designer selection.

5. Get a glimpse of the history of design at the Designmuseum Denmark

Designmuseum Denmark

The newly renovated museum explores design from the past, present and future. The space was way bigger than I expected, and it was interesting to see how Danish design has influenced so much around us.

6. Grab a frozen amaretto sour at Ruby

Ruby
@sophieeanna
In an old townhouse from 1740, Ruby is one of the best cocktail bars in the city for over a century. We went back twice during our short 4 day trip.

Another spot that I ended up going back to multiple times. Please go. And befriend your bartenders 🍸

Sophie Anna Everhard
Hi! I'm Sophie - the daughter of a commercial airline pilot, francophile, and someone who would always rather be in a hotel bed than in her own. I've been lucky enough to travel the world starting from a young age in a very unique way (sometimes I don't even know what city I'm flying to until I get to the airport) and recently spent a year working at luxury travel company. Today, I'm an actress and travel & music industry executive who loves to experience cities like a local.
