My Porto Guides 🇵🇹🍷

Oh Porto 🤍 The brilliant weather, stunning architecture and azulejo tiles, vibrant colours, amazing food, beautiful views…it’s all so good. I just loved this city and can’t wait to visit again soon. Especially for more port and pastel de natas 😍 These are some spots and activities that I'd recommend - and others I ran out of time to try but am so keen to do one day!

Activities

Six Bridges Cruise down the Douro River

A great chilled activity to do here and a great way to see the city from a different perspective. The views of the Cais da Ribeira are particularly lovely! I went on a cruise similar to this one above by Get Your Guide. You can book in advance or on the day. It lasted about an hour and cost around 12 euros per person.

Cable car ride along Gaia

Take a short cable car ride along the banks of Gaia - across the Duoro River from Porto - for some lovely views. It'll pass over a row of port wine lodges which I'd suggest walking past and dipping in for some tastings. A one-way ticket is 7€ and a round-trip is 10€.

Day trip to the Douro Valley

I absolutely would have done this if I'd had more time. It's a region about an hour east of Porto known for its beautiful green landscapes, terraced vineyards and production of high-quality port wine.

There are so many available tours available to this area and this is just one example. This particular one consists of a visit to Amarante, a wine tasting at an estate in Sabrosa, photo stop at the São Cristovão viewpoint, boat cruise around Pinhão and a final wine tasting in the Douro Valley.

Day trip to Aveiro

A visit to the "Venice of Portugal" - it looks beautiful!
