"I like big bridges and I cannot lie... I love seeing and walking across bridges and this one was one of the best. This double decker bridge can be crossed by foot. The lower deck is open for cars and pedestrians while the upper deck is used for the Porto Metro as well as being open for pedestrians.
We started on the Porto side in the Ribeira neighborhood and made our way to the upper deck of the bridge. We crossed on this upper deck where we were treated with a lovely breeze (in August this felt great!) and gorgeous views. When we reached the opposite side in Vila Nova de Gaia, we rode the cable cars to the street level.
After exploring Vila Nova de Gaia, we walked along the lower deck to return to Porto.
💡Special tip - this bridge may remind you of another European landmark as it's designer was a student of Gustave Eiffel."

"I love this bridge! Of all the things "to do" in Porto, walking this bridge (day or night) is probably my most favorite thing. You won't believe the views of the Douro River, the Ribeira and of Vila Nova de Gaia on the other side.
⭐️ Tip: the hills in Porto are no joke! You have some options if you just plan out your route a little bit. If you want to explore the Ribeira (riverfront) on the Gaia side, walk from the Ribeira in Porto across the lower level of the bridge. If you are wanting to cross on the upper level, start at Se Cathedral (close to Sao Bento train station).
⭐️ Tip: There is a funicular that will take you back up, just across from the entrance to the lower bridge on the Porto side. It is a super short ride, cost 4 Euros (cash only, typically), but saves you from climbing a LOT of stairs. "

"Ponte Luís I is a significant thing when you travel to Porto. I know there are lots of bridges but this one is really special. There are no cars, only trolleys and sidewák from both sides. There is always busy because of the masses od tourists walking on the bridge and taking photos of the breathtaking view. Also this bridge leads you to the famous Jardim do Morro where you can relax or watch the sunset. Under the bridge there is Ribeira do Porto with many restaurants and bars."
