While the colonial zone boasts a concentration of museums, I highly recommend exploring accommodations in the vibrant neighborhoods of Chapinero, El Retiro, El Chico and Usaquen, particularly near the renowned "Zona G." These areas not only offer proximity to top-notch restaurants and bars but also provide convenient access to public transportation and walkable attractions, and a secure environment.

It features fascinating exhibitions, including a room that tells the story of El Dorado. The visiting hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (last entry at 6:00 p.m.); Sundays and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last entry at 4:00 p.m.); closed on Mondays, including public holidays. The entrance fee is COP$13,000 from Tuesday to Saturday (includes audio guide). On Sundays, admission is free for everyone. 🍬Sweet tooth tip: If you're a fan of sweets, I recommend the Obleas stand right in front of the museum entrance.

It’s best to visit early or late in the day to avoid crowds, dress warmly due to cooler temperatures, and take it slow to acclimatize to the high altitude. Admission Fee: Cable Car or Funicular: Weekdays: Around COP 23,500 (about USD 6) for a round trip. Weekends and Holidays: Around COP 14,000 (about USD 3.50) one way, or COP 27,000 (about USD 7) round trip. Operating hours: Cable Car it opens from Monday to Saturday: 6:30 AM to 11:30 PM and Sunday: 5:30 AM to 6:30 PM. And the Funicular, Monday to Saturday: 6:30 AM to 11:45 PM and Sunday: 5:30 AM to 6:30 PM. If you want to do it by the hiking trail it usually opens from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM daily, but it may close occasionally for maintenance or safety reasons. Hours and fees can vary, so it's a good idea to check ahead of your visit.

José Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden is the largest botanical garden in Colombia, and I think the most beautiful. I visited the Botanical Garden of Medellin and it was amazing, but this one really outshines everything else. One thing you can’t miss is the Tropicario (you have to pay an additional fee for admission to the area). It showcases a diverse collection of native flora, including themed gardens featuring Andean, Amazonian, and paramo ecosystems, as well as beautiful collections of roses, orchids, and medicinal plants. The garden also has a butterfly house, and water features that highlight the country’s rich biodiversity. It’s a perfect spot for nature lovers to explore, relax, and learn about Colombia's diverse plant life.

Theres is also a tourist train from Bogotá to Zipaquirá, which operates on weekends and holidays. Carved from the halite rock 200 meters (656 feet) below ground, the cathedral features a stunning main hall, 14 Stations of the Cross, and various chapels illuminated dramatically to highlight its unique rock formations. The Salt Cathedral is open daily from 9 AM to 5:30 PM. Entry fees vary for Colombians; the price is COP 61,000 for adults and COP 50,000 for children under 12 and adults over 60. For foreign visitors, the entry fee is COP 98,000 for adults and COP 84,000 for children and seniors. This fee includes a guided tour and an audio guide.

Visitors can find an array of exhibits, including uniforms, weapons, military artifacts, historical documents, and dioramas depicting key battles and events. The museum also showcases military vehicles, artillery, and even a replica of Colombia’s first aircraft. It is free and opens from Tuesday to Sunday, 9 AM to 4 PM. Closed on Mondays and public holidays. It's an ideal destination for history enthusiasts or anyone interested in Colombia’s rich military heritage.

I haven’t been in this place, yet. However, I won’t like you to missed it as I did in my last trip to Bogotá. The Jaime Duque Park is a popular amusement and cultural park located just outside Bogotá, in Tocancipá. It offers a mix of entertainment, education, and recreation, featuring a variety of attractions such as a replica of the Taj Mahal, a scale model of Colombia, an aviary, a zoo, themed gardens, a dinosaur park, and a fantasy castle. The park also includes rides, live shows, and exhibits focused on Colombian culture and world history. The admission fee could vary by package, usually around COP 35,000 to COP 65,000 (approximately USD 9-17) depending on age and activities included. And it is opne from Thursday to Sunday and on holidays, from 9 AM to 5 PM.
