Prato and Pistoia
Since all these places are relatively close and easily accessible by train, you can visit them all within a few days. I would recommend a day trip to explore both Prato and Pistoia. Personally, I prefer Prato, mainly due to its vibrant nightlife.
Cinque Terre and La Spezia
Cinque Terre and La Spezia are technically part of the Liguria region, not Tuscany. However, they are located very close to Tuscany, and many visitors to Tuscany often explore Cinque Terre due to its proximity. La Spezia serves as a gateway to the Cinque Terre, making it a popular base for tourists traveling to these picturesque coastal villages. While they are distinct regions, their close geographical relationship leads to frequent connections in travel itineraries.
Cinque Terre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising five charming fishing villagesโMonterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggioreโnestled along the rugged Ligurian coastline. Each village is characterized by its colorful houses, terraced vineyards, and scenic hiking paths, making it a popular destination for those seeking natural beauty and tranquility.
La Spezia is a vibrant coastal city in Liguria, serving as a gateway to the stunning Cinque Terre National Park. Known for its picturesque harbor and rich maritime history, La Spezia offers visitors a blend of cultural attractions, including museums and historic architecture, alongside easy access to the colorful cliffside villages of the Cinque Terre, which are famous for their breathtaking views and hiking trails.
Tuscany is also celebrated for its world-class wines, particularly Chianti, and its delectable cuisine, which emphasizes fresh, local ingredients. Visitors can indulge in wine tours, explore ancient ruins, or savor traditional dishes in quaint trattorias. The regionโs blend of natural beauty, artistic heritage, and culinary delights makes Tuscany an enchanting destination, inviting travelers to immerse themselves in its timeless charm and cultural richness.
