Wandering through the center of Rome, you’ll find good food and wine almost everywhere. But here are some of my favorite spots—along with a few favorites recommended by my Roman friends. 🍷🍝✨
Eat as a Local
Osterie Romane
Osterie are those magical places where you can sit with friends, enjoy a generous glass of house wine, and order a pasta dish so big it could feed an army. The friendly, down-to-earth hosts will charm you into staying for more, convincing you to try an appetizer and dessert because, obviously, you have to taste it all! Here, you’ll find the essence of Roman cuisine—from Carbonara to artichokes, Puntarelle to Coda alla vaccinara.
Il Vignola
@samiaborra
Ah, this place… How do I even begin to describe it? I lived just a few steps away from this classic Roman restaurant, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been there. After just a couple of visits, the staff will know you by name and greet you with the warmth and enthusiasm that defines the people of this neighborhood.
Let them guide you and start with a shared antipasto della casa, freshly prepared: they’ll stuff you like it’s Thanksgiving, and you’ll only want more. Their pastas, mains, and pizzas? Absolutely fantastic.
Call ahead and book, as this spot is a favorite among locals. On Friday and Saturday nights, it fills up with young people who head here for dinner after aperitivo at the nearby Tree Bar. Don’t miss out—this place is out of this world! 🍝🍕✨

A historic pizzeria where you can try the real Roman pizza: thin and crispy. 🍕 The place is small and bustling, and they rarely take reservations. They might just fall in love with you and flirt, trying to convince you to go out with them. 😏

Italian culinary tour in Rome
Italian food is like a culinary journey. Every region has its own specialties, and wherever you go, they'll tell you their pasta is better than their neighbors' and that they've invented the best version of everything. And you know what I say? Let them argue about which pasta shape holds the sauce best, while we, in the meantime, just taste it all! 😋🍝
