Day 1.. Tokyo

Once you arrive at the station floor of Narita Airport, look for the JR East Travel Service center. This is the point of exchange for the JR Pass. You’ll need both your passport and exchange voucher in order to activate the JR Pass, be sure to keep them ready. So you can activated it, and use NEX train to Tokyo for free.

*note: You can only buy Jr Pass outside Japan.

What to do in Kyoto

Because we depart from Tokyo at noon, we will arrive in Tokyo in the afternoon around 3-4 pm. So we can look for sunset in Kyoto.

There are very few JR lines in Kyoto, so we need another pass while we are in Kyoto. The subway & bus one-day pass is especially efficient and easy to use in Kyoto.

Hōkan-ji Temple
@justsilma
The best location for sunset is Hokkan Ji Temple. But of course its gonna be hectic and crowded of people around that time.

I recommend you to go to Tokyo Joypolis. Its indoor amusement park created by SEGA. You can find so many arcade inside.

Theres two option if you want to play in Joypolis.

First, if you think you are going to experience everything there at joypolis - roller coasters, games, rides - then you should get the all you can play pass.

The second one is, you can just pay entrance fee and then pay as you go for games and rides.

The games in there are really fun and again amazed that some of them are not present in the US. There are multiple group (4-8 people) games - Sonic Sports, Resident Evil - etc where large groups compete and play at the same time.
