What people say

"A beautiful bamboo forest, but it can get quite crowded. If you're looking for an empty path for photography, you'll have to arrive VERY early. I'm talking, get up before sunrise and arrive while it is just rising. If that sounds not very fun, the bamboo itself grows very tall, so you can always get a great shot of the bamboo itself regardless of the crowds on the pathway. It is open 24/7, so if you arrive after before 8am, it is much less crowded. When it is less crowded, the walk through the forest is surprisingly quick, while on a busy day, it can take longer to make it through the crowds. My favourite way to travel there is via an adorable vintage tram, the Keifuku Randen tramline. You catch it from Shijo-Omiya Station in Kyoto. And it arrives directly at Arahisyama Station in the centre of the town."
"Itโ€™s fair to say that the breathtaking Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is probably the most well-recognized in the entire world. Traveling to Kyoto, donโ€™t pass up the chance to graze through its awe-inspiring setting as thousands of bamboo stalks seem to engulf you inside โ€ฆ Itโ€™s rather magical. For the best photographs (and views), look up! Some of the Giant Bamboo shoots reach as tall as 25 meters. The entire walk through the forest is around 45 minutes but you could easily get lost inside for hours. Also known as Sagano Bamboo Forest and just โ€œBamboo Forestโ€, there is a shrine in the middle of the forest to visit, Nonomiya Shrine. Located in the Arashiyama district on the north side of Kyoto, make a day of it and explore the area around here."
"Nestled on the outskirts of Kyoto, the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove stands as a mesmerizing testament to nature's artistry. Stepping into this ethereal world, visitors are engulfed by towering bamboo stalks that sway gently in the breeze, creating a symphony of rustling sounds. Walking through the winding pathways, the sunlight filters through the dense canopy, casting enchanting patterns on the forest floor. The grove exudes a sense of tranquility, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in its serene ambiance. Beyond the bamboo, picturesque gardens and traditional temples await, adding to the allure of this magical destination. The Arashiyama Bamboo Grove is a must-visit, transporting you to a realm of natural beauty and tranquility."
