Buon viaggio!

THE DAY-BY-DAY GUIDE TO A PERFECT INTRODUCTION TO ROME 🇮🇹
I've been fortunate enough to visit Rome multiple times and even more fortunate to have been guided by true Italian friends. Here I take all that I've learned from those travels and distill it into one perfect 3-day introduction.
This itinerary is perfect for someone visiting Rome for the first time and then continuing on to other parts of Italy for the rest of your trip. You'll visit all the truly must-see sights like the Colosseum and the Vatican, but you’ll do so at a pace that won’t make you exhausted and miserable.
Generally I recommend that people spend even longer in Rome (because there’s just *so much* to see here), but I know the stats say 3 days is really typical. I completely understand. Europe is expensive and you want to make the most of your trip. But, I think you'll find that these 3 days barely scratch the surface of the Eternal City, and you'll be itching to come back to see (and eat) everything Rome has to offer!

Welcome to the enchanting region of Tuscany, where rolling hills, historic cities, and culinary delights await you. In this gluten-free travel guide I share the best spots in Tuscany, from Cinque Terre to Montepulciano and from the coast to Umbria, including Florence, Sienna and Lucca. Tuscany offers many gluten-free options if you know where to look!
I'll navigate you through the best gluten-free dining experiences Tuscany has to offer so you can enjoy the authentic flavors of the region without having to worry about dietary restrictions. You'll benefit from my personal insights gained from exploring Tuscany's gluten-free options. As a fellow traveler with Celiac disease (20+ years), I understand the importance of finding reliable and delicious options while traveling. I'll share my favorite spots and must-try dishes.
In my experience the larger cities in Italy are well informed on Celiac and cross-contamination risks. The safest places would be 100% gluten free shops and restaurants that I listed first in the guide. Other than that your best bet are the places that are AiC accredited. AiC is the Associazione Italiana Celiachia, the Italian national celiac society that checks the knowledge of the restaurants of celiac disease and visits to check if the restaurants are following the necessary protocol for preparing gluten free food.
I do want to note that even though there are great gluten free places and options listed here, it is always important to communicate and ask questions everywhere and every time you go! Especially if you have Celiac disease, having a celiac translation card with you helps to communicate the risks of cross contamination and the do's and don'ts. For all restaurants it's important to go through the following three steps:
1) Always inform staff about your diet and which ingredients you absolutely must avoid
2) Always ask for the ingredients of the dishes you intend to eat and, if in doubt, avoid eating the dish itself.
3) Briefly remember the rules for the preparation of gluten-free dishes to avoid cross-contamination and discuss this with the restaurant.
Always trust your judgment and advocate for yourself.
I really had a lot of fun researching for my own trip and hope to have helped you with the preparation for your travels. I wish you a great trip and all the best safe food experiences. Please let me know if this information was helpful to you and if you found other places that you want to share.
Safe travels, Fien

It is a 12-day itinerary and provides tour recommendations, hotel recommendations as we well as some great restaurants and bars to check-out. Also included, a day trip out to Cinque Terre.
This itinerary is based on a trip we did back in October of 2019 with friends of ours. Some updates have been added based on client trips I have booked to Italy since then, and include some of their recommendations.

Spending some time in beautiful Florence? This is a complete list that provides you with a handful of options: accommodation, tourist attractions, shops, bars and restaurants - you’ll need no other guide, I promise!
So…have a bite and a drink alongside Arno river and take home the most impressive bespoke souvenirs. The city is walkable and it blends art and history and romantic vibes all together and pretty soon you’ll find yourself in love. 💓
Must do - trips to picturesque towns located nearby:
• San Gimignano: 1h away
• Siena: 1h10 away
• Volterra: 1h20 away
Highlights:
⚜️ Il Giglio - giglio bottonato, is mainly known from the crest of the city of Florence. In the Florentine fleurs-de-lis, the stamens are always posed between the petals. This is also the emblem of the city and you shall see it depicted all over.
🍨 Gelato “crema fiorentina” - is the specific flavor of Florence, made with a simple combination of egg yolks, milk, and sugar. It is often flavored with chestnut honey, while another common addition includes crumbled amaretti cookies or almond liqueur. It is a neutral ice cream flavor with delicate pale-yellow color.
🍧 Affogato - a delightful and simple Italian dessert or beverage that combines two beloved elements: espresso and gelato or ice cream. The word "affogato" in Italian means "drowned," and that perfectly describes the preparation of this delicious treat. The basic affogato recipe involves pouring a hot, freshly brewed espresso over a scoop of cold gelato or ice cream. The hot espresso contrasts with the cold and creamy gelato, resulting in a harmonious and satisfying flavour combination.
🥩 Bistecca alla fiorentina - Italian steak made of young steer (vitellone) or heifer (scottona) that, combined with the specific preparation, makes it one of the most popular dishes of Tuscan cuisine.
🍷 "Buchette del vino" - or wine windows, are a peculiar feature of Florence. They are foot-high, dome-shaped holes in the thick, stone palazzi of the Renaissance city that six centuries ago were used to sell wine in a fiasco (glass bottle) without having to open a shop and avoid paying taxes. These wine windows also posed a useful anti-contagion way to sell wine during the epidemic of 1630-1633. At that time, the bubonic plague hit Florence hard, killing 12% of the city's population.
