A walking tour of Pubs in the historic Rocks district of Sydney, the birth place of modern Australia. Nestled in the shadows of the Sydney Harbour bridge, you'll find some of the most historic and lively pubs in the city.
Somewhere to eat
All the pubs in this guide offer food ranging from steaks, fish and chips, burgers, pizzas etc. Check out the menus on their websites. If you'd like to eat somewhere else, I've added a few suggestions at the end of the guide.
Getting there
The Rocks is on the western side of Circular quay on Sydney Harbour. It's a short walk from many of the major hotels and right behind the main cruise ship terminal. If traveling via public transport, it's next to the Circular Quay Train Station (T2, T3, T8 lines), the Circular Quay Light Rail Station (L2, L3 lines) and the Circular Quay ferry wharfs.

Hello fellow traveler! Thank you for choosing my shop to help you have an amazing trip to Sydney. I had the pleasure of living only 2.5 hours away from Sydney when I lived in Australia. It was my first trip when I moved out there and I continued to take weekend trips here constantly. It is one of my favorite cities and it holds a special place in my heart.
This board is a list of a few recommendations for one day/night in this stunning city! If you would prefer a more detailed itinerary I recommend my Ultimate Travel Guide to Sydney. This itinerary includes tips on public transportation, 1 spot to sleep, 5 things to do, 4 spots to eat, and 4 options to drink and party. One of my favourite neighbourhoods in Sydney is Potts Point. A real community spirit and picturesque scene. It offers so much beautiful, art deco architecture that gives the area its distinct character: vintage boutiques, fashion, book stores, gift shops, florists, wine shops, pasticcerias, weekly produce markets, and an abundance of my favourite bars, cafes, wine bars, and restaurants. Once you turn that corner on Darlinghurst Road, you are right in the heart of Kings Cross, home to where the nightlife in Sydney once thrived and is truly set on making a comeback with the nighttime economy focus. Wander down Macleay Street, but don't forget the back streets and laneways are truly where it's at!

The Outback is an incredible place and so uniquely Australian, but unless you have weeks to explore via off-roading caravan, it’s difficult to see. We went with some family friends who own a flight tourism company Panorama Air Australia out of Bathurst, NSW (itself a cool town and a beautiful drive from Sydney through the Blue Mountains) and it was an easy and beautiful way to see a part of the country that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Heading on a cruise from Auckland? Make sure to pick up this guide. I've included all of my guides from the ports we docked in plus helpful information about the airport arrival procedures and departure information. New Zealand is a protected place and a lot of bio-security rules apply. You will find your self going through security before and after each ship embarkment/dis-embarkment along with needing extra time at airport security both ways.
