Montenegro is probably the MOST underrated European country. Located in the Balkans by the Adriatic sea, most people would choose Croatia or Greece over Montenegro. Why pick Montenegro instead? Because it's way less touristic and cheaper than its neighbors. And despite its small size, it has it all! From picturesque coastlines with centuries old towns to Alpine mountains and waterlily filled lakes, Montenegro doesn't disappoint. And because of its small size, it's possible to see its highlights in 7 days, from North to South. This guide is best suited for road trip enthusiasts and avid travelers who want to see as much as possible in a limited time and on a budget. There is little time for relaxation, expect to be exploring and driving every day (on average 3 hours per day), but it will be absolutely worth it! For convenience reasons, this itinerary starts and ends in Dubrovnik, Croatia, right at the border with Montenegro. This guide includes a detailed 7 days itinerary based on my own road trip done in 2021, with cheap accommodation recommandations, places to eat, activities, sight suggestions and even hidden gems! This is a backpacking guide for hiking a variant of the Peaks of the Balkans (POB) trail in 7-13 days through Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo. This route includes all the highlights of the POB trail and adds some exclusive side tours with some of the most majestic landscapes not part of the official POB loop. This guide provides a flexible itinerary dividing the loop up into 3 sections, with each section providing options for extra side trips (highest mountain of Kosovo and highest of the Albanian Alps, Grebaje valley). The tour can be done by either camping along the way, or sleeping in guesthouses/ hotels. This guide includes the route as seen in my Youtube film and is suitable for all levels of experience. This guide will walk through the best places and things to do in Albania. I have recently been to Albania and it's one of the most beautiful countries I've been to.
