Ultimate Copenhagen Guide: Everything you need to know when going to Copenhagen
Welcome to my city!
I created the ultimate guide with more than 200 selected things to do, see and taste as a result of more than 21 years living in this city.
When people think of Denmark, they often picture the statue of the little mermaid, Tivoli amusement park and lots of bikes. And while Copenhagen is all of that, there’s also much more to the city.
Included are the best places to see between:
- Castles
- Churches
- Parks
- Hidden gems
- Museums & Galleries
- Panoramic points
- Best restaurants, unique cafes, street food, brunch
- Suggested itineraries
& more
Here you'll also find general information of the city, how to get around, what not to do and frequently asked questions, as well as suggested itineraries.
Do you have any question? Send me a DM on Instagram @worldofsofiab or an email to world.of.sofiab@gmail.com
Happy exploring!
*** Disclosure:
For attractions, I provide GetYourGuide and Booking.com links where possible. I myself love the vendors as you can keep all your tickets/stays in one place (even better with the Copenhagen card), you also get instant confirmation and can cancel for a full refund up to 24 hours before your planned activity/stay - this is a major benefit in a city like Copenhagen where the weather can dictate your itinerary.
Using the links provided also help me as a small business, as I make a small commission with no additional charge to you!

In the last few years, I've spent over 5 months in France. My situation is unique because my boyfriend is French, so I often get to explore areas of the country that other travelers might not think to visit.
Paris is certainly worth experiencing, but the rest of France has so much to offer, too! Spanning as far north as Lille and as far south as Bordeaux, this guide will give you everything you need to experience some of the best areas of France, outside of its capital.
The best part? I don't plan to stop exploring France anytime soon! I will continue to update this guide with new places as I visit them myself.
I hope this guide inspires and informs your next, or first, trip to this incredible country. Safe travels! 🧳

During my Erasmus exchange period in Lille (for those who do not know, Erasmus is the European university exchange program), I had the opportunity to visit Paris many times, because it was close and as it is a city that I deeply love and that ravishes my heart every time.
Of course, at that time I did not have a particularly large budget, and, let's say that, Paris is not exactly a low-cost destination. However, I looked for the best solutions to be able to fully enjoy this wonderful city without having to spend a fortune.
The most surprising thing is, that I ended up having extraordinary experiences that I would not have had otherwise.
Here I have created a list of all the coolest free or low-cost activities I did in Paris, the hotel I stayed at, and the places I ate.

One thing the danish are most certainly famous for are their pastries. 🥐🥮
The big question remains: "Where should I try them?”
So that you don't end up in a branche, I and my friend came up with a list of the most authentic and deliciuos bakeries and cafes in Copenhagen ☕️.
Wherever you dicide to go, make sure to try "Spandauer" and "Tebirkes". Also, "Jordbärtarte", translated strawberry tart 🍓, is a must-try.

In the past decade, the Copenhagen food scene has really exploded. From the high-end food scene, to the cozy cafés selling the local BMO (scroll to find out what it is!) - you definitely won't leave this city hungry. But you'll probably be a little bit broke.
In this guide, I've saved all my favorite places (plus in the bottom, I added if they have additional locations/branches) - and I'll also continuously add any new spots that I try.

Welcome to Copenhagen!
Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is situated on the eastern coast of the island of Zealand, facing the Øresund strait that separates Denmark from Sweden. This charming city is renowned for its harmonious blend of modernity and historical charm. At the heart of Copenhagen lies its picturesque old city, where cobbled streets, colorful buildings, and centuries-old architecture create a captivating atmosphere.
The old city of Copenhagen exudes an undeniable beauty, with its well-preserved medieval buildings and intricate facades. Walking through its narrow streets, visitors are transported back in time, surrounded by a sense of history and culture. Iconic landmarks like the majestic Rosenborg Castle, the historic Round Tower, and the vibrant Nyhavn harbor area add to the city's allure. There is also plenty of opportunities to enjoy a cold beer, while shouting "skååååål" (cheers) to the other danes.
In Copenhagen's old city, modern amenities seamlessly blend with its rich heritage, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking a glimpse into the past while enjoying the conveniences of the present.

I used to live in Paris, so when I return, I pick where I stay based on what I'm hoping to see and do. Paris is magically a massive city that remains largely walkable, and strolling the City of Light is not only an easy way to get around, but most Parisians' favorite past time.
Wander (flâner) amidst the Haussmannian architecture, picnic in the gardens, get lost in the Louvre, sip coffee or wine on a terrasse, fill up on crêpes and vintage books, watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle– this magical city is meant to be shared.
These are some of the best central hotel options in Paris that will allow you to explore the city by foot.
