This is a backpacking guide for hiking a variant of the Peaks of the Balkans (POB) trail in 7-13 days through Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo. This route includes all the highlights of the POB trail and adds some exclusive side tours with some of the most majestic landscapes not part of the official POB loop.
This guide provides a flexible itinerary dividing the loop up into 3 sections, with each section providing options for extra side trips (highest mountain of Kosovo and highest of the Albanian Alps, Grebaje valley). The tour can be done by either camping along the way, or sleeping in guesthouses/ hotels.
This guide includes the route as seen in my Youtube film and is suitable for all levels of experience.
What this guide includes:
- Itinerary with flexible route for different lengths and dificulty, distances, best overnight (camping) options and other useful waypoints (7 stages, 3 bonus stages);
- custom Google Maps with all the important locations (campsites, grocery stores, airports, overnight options, parking lots, water sources, trails and viewpoints);
- gpx-tracks of all the routes.
- all the practical information: how to get there, when to go, trail conditions, weather, geography and more.

While its neighbor Croatia gets a lot of attention among world travelers, Montenegro is a personal favorite of the places I've traveled to over the years!
My husband and I were looking at places to go for our anniversary one day, hoping for a mix of what we both love when we travel. He's an outdoor adventure fanatic, looking for any and every opportunity to commune with the clouds. I, however, prefer to sit at a cafe table on a cobblestone street, drinking a cup of coffee and reading a book, while I take in the unique buildings and shop for that souvenir I'll take home to add to the collection.
In my researching, I found unbeatable flights to a country I hadn't ever heard of, but had it all: Montenegro.
Whether you prefer mountains, quaint walled cities, the sea, or a combination of all of these things, Montenegro won't disappoint. While only about the size of the state of Connecticut, Montenegro packs a punch with how much there is to see in the country. Montenegro is right across from Italy on the Adriatic Sea, sharing borders with Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, and Albania.
With a 7 day trip, you can see the majority of the country, experiencing the variety and beauty of Montenegro and its people.
In this guide, you'll find everything you need to plan your trip to Montenegro!
**Included: a list of basic information for travel to Montenegro, recommendations for how to get around, places to stay, what to do, as well as a sample 7 day itinerary

Most visitors stop in Athens for a day or two, look at the Acropolis, and then fly off to Santorini. When people rush through Athens just to get to the islands, they miss out on a beautiful city full of history, incredible food, and amazing sights.
I studied in Athens for a semester and I loved being a part of the daily life and culture. From chatting with the friendly people who worked at my local coffee shop to using the Acropolis as a directional guide, Athens quickly felt like home. I miss Athens constantly and just really loved the time I spent there.
There’s truly something for everyone. If you are a Greek mythology or philosophy nerd, this is the motherland. If you love food, get ready to gorge yourself on delicious souvlaki and feta cheese. Or, if you just appreciate beautiful sights and fun nightlife, there’s something for you too.
Based on my time in Athens, here are my recommendations for what to do, where to eat, day trips, and nightlife. If you’re just visiting, opt to do more than the average tourist and really get to know the city of Athens. It’s more than a layover.
