Growing up in Oregon gave me access to a myriad of adventure activities, and one of my most beloved traditions was driving the scenic, affectionately-named "fruit loop". Stopping at various stands along the road to savor the taste of fresh fruit, pick flowers, sip on juices, and interact with friendly goats made a summer or fall day feel like a scene straight out of a movie. After exploring the loop, you can choose to continue your journey to Mount Hood or head back up the Columbia Gorge towards Portland. These parks are about 5 hours apart, so while it could be done in a long weekend, it is probably better suited for individual trips or part of a longer road-trip. As a born and raised southerner visiting Oregon three years ago for the first time, I was absolutely enthralled by the diverse landscapes from the Columbia River Gorge to the sand dunes along the coast. I was so charmed by Oregon a few years ago that I went home, packed my bags and moved cross country by myself so that I didn't have to stop exploring all that it has to offer.
