British Columbia Road Trip

KECIA WELT
In May 2023, my husband and I took a 12 night road trip to British Columbia. We had an incredible experience. I am excited to share these notes from our journey. Reach out if you have questions or want to pick my brain for advice.

Portland to Victoria

We allowed 4.5 hours for the drive from Portland to Port Angeles. We checked in for the ferry 90 minutes before departure. Once in line, we left our car and walked to a nearby restaurant for lunch.

Victoria, B.C.

We first visited Victoria in 2018. Rather than staying downtown, we decided to stay in the more residential Oak Bay neighborhood. We are glad we did. This neighborhood is filled with beautiful homes, verdant gardens, beach access and golf courses.

We especially enjoyed finding the secret walkways and paths that cut through the neighborhoods. This neighborhood also offers a nice selection of cafes, bakeries and restaurants to explore.

Make no mistake, this hotel was a serious splurge for us. It was well worth it. I loved the location and super heated swimming pool.

There are several locations — one is fairly close to Oak Bay. We decided to walk to the Cook Steet location as we had visited in 2018. We had a great meal and, after our long drive, we enjoyed the hour long walk from our hotel.
