Cologne has a number of Christmas Markets (or Weihnachtsmarkt in German) all around the city. Each market has a unique theme, so each feels different than the last.
If you were planning to visit, I would recommend budgeting two full days to see them all.
I may be biased, but I think Cologne has some of the most memorable markets in all of Germany â and they regularly appear on some of the must-visit Christmas Market lists.

From independent design shops to creative concept stores, Cologne has a thriving boutique culture ranging from approachable to high-end shops selling all sorts of interesting products. And don't forget about the amazing secondhand and vintage shopping here!
One of the things that first stood out to me about Cologne was the vibrancy of local business. I noticed independently owned shops around the city, and significantly less big box retailers than I was used to coming from the US. The abundance of small retail is one of my favorite things about life in Cologne.

KĂślsch is THE beer in Cologne đť
It is the only beer in Germany to have a protected geographical status, similar to Bourbon in Kentucky or Champagne in France. In order to be called a KĂślsch, the brewery *must* be within Cologne and follow strict standards.
KĂślsch is a clear, light, and crisp lager that is warm fermented with top-fermenting yeast, then conditioned at cold temperatures like a lager. Picture easy summer drinking!
In these comprehensive beer guide, I will share all my favorite local KĂślsch breweries and beer gardens.

I believe having good coffee and conversation is one of life's simplest and most beautiful pleasures, which is why I am always on the lookout for new cafĂŠs, not only in places I travel to but also in my own Cologne neighborhood.
Cologne does not disappoint when it comes to great coffee roasts and making sure you're never far from the next place to get caffeinated and loaded with good ol' German pastries and bread.
Have fun exploring the Domstadt & let me know if you enjoyed any of these spots!
