In the Canadian countryside, not far from the US border, Sherbrooke awaits you!
I've created this guide based on my Erasmus experience in Sherbrooke, Canada.
The city is just three hours by bus from Montreal, just close to the US border.
Since it's in the open countryside, the city offers a lot of nature-related activities (as Canadians love) and good places to have fun!
If you'd like to experience quiet life in Canada, Sherbrooke (Sherby for its friends) is the right place to go!
Or, if you like the on-the-road experience, it can be the right stop in between big cities.

Churchill is located on Hudson Bay, at the mouth of the Churchill River and on the edge of the Arctic Circle. To say Churchill is remote is an understatement. There are no
roads in, so your only way to arrive is either by air or a two
day (one way) train ride.
Churchill is known as the Polar Bear capital of the world, and is the location of the annual Beluga whale migration. Each of these has a very short season of viewing. Polar Bears can typically be found in October and November, but can vary slightly (I was lucky enough to encounter 3 in July). Beluga season is mid July to mid August. It is also one of the premier places in the world to see the Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights. The best time for the AB is late Fall, Winter, and early Spring.
I went at the end of July and stayed for 4 nights and 5 days for the Beluga whale migration and it was worth every single penny it cost. Make no mistake, this is not an inexpensive trip due to Churchill's location. Everything has to be either flown, or railed in, so their costs reflect that. There is only one commercial airline that flies there from Winnipeg. But again, it was totally worth it and I can only describe sharing the waters with the Belugas as a magical experience. I will be back.
This guide contains a complete list of my exciting journey--to include accompanying photos I took. Even with Churchill being very small (only about 800 full time residents) there is much to see and do.
I also include many of the photos I took at each place.

Montréal is the largest city in Canada's Québec province. There is a lot of great food in Montreal so here are some of my favourites.
Although Quebec is a francophone province, most people in Montreal are bilingual so you will have no trouble managing English in shops and restaurants.
Enjoy and bon appétit!

"The Icefields Parkway is one of the world’s most scenic drives, offering up everything from ancient glaciers and turquoise lakes to mountain-framed valleys and raging waterfalls. If there ever was a road trip that is more about the journey than the destination, it is the Icefields Parkway drive. In only 233 kilometres, you’ll experience what feels like an endless amount of stunning natural wonders as you drive the Icefields Parkway through the heart of Banff and Jasper national parks."
Park Pass: You will need to purchase a park pass to drive the Icefields Parkway, since it goes through two national parks. You can buy one at the entrances to Banff and Jasper national parks, as well as at the two booths on the Icefields Parkway (just outside of Lake Louise and the Jasper townsite).
Best to start this road trip with a full tank of gas since there is only one gas station on the Icefields Parkway (at Saskatchewan Crossing, which is 80 km from Lake Louise and 153 km from Jasper). Prices are usually higher here than in Lake Louise or Jasper.
