Whilst Hostelworld ratings can be super helpful when deciding where to stay, the best hostels are spread through word-of-mouth. So here's my list of recommended hostels, which include their current HostelWorld rating and link (not an affiliate link) and my pros/cons for each hostel.

Rome, the eternal city, captivates visitors with its timeless allure and monumental history. Steeped in over 2,000 years of civilization, every corner tells a story of ancient empires, Renaissance art, and modern vitality. Each piazza invites leisurely strolls and indulgent dining experiences, where traditional trattorias serve up delectable Roman cuisine alongside world-class wines. In October 2022, my boyfriend and I took a roadtrip from George to Johannesburg to get his car back home. We thought we'd make the most of it and amble along the Garden Route for a few extra days. It was amazing, so I wanted to share some of it with you and add a few extra tidbits for those of you experiencing the places for the first time. It's recommended to go in spring or summer, but try to avoid holiday periods (December and January) as it can get super busy and sometimes pricey, unless you're going for a party haha. Enjoy!
