FREE | My Capsule Hotel Experience in Japan | 3-min Read
Arriving in Japan, Tokyo
Arriving in Japan was an overwhelming experience for me as it was my first time and for some reason, I could not connect my phone to the roaming! Fortunately, I managed to find Wi-fi at the airport and Googled how to get to my hotel.
Booth Net Cafe & Capsule Hotel
The hotel which I was staying at was Booth Net Cafe and Capsule Hotel which was a smack right in the heart of Shinjuku. I arrived late at night around 12am and their reception was still open for check-in. Pre-booking the hotel was also a good idea as all the pods were full by midnight.
There was a drink bar that provided different kinds of coffee and soft drinks. They even had an ice-cream maker with sprinkles and different toppings!
Booth Net Cafe and Capsule Hotel provides the guests with free Wi-fi, you could use the computers for free and borrow manga comic books too! Showers are at 200yen - about $1.33USD where they would provide you a key to the shower stalls and towels.
As I wandered around Shinjuku for the first time, late at night, a lot of ramen and sushi bowl restaurants were still open and the night life was still going strong.
I finally settled for a sashimi bowl restaurant and had my first meal in Japan! The fish was so fresh and so yummy:)
I finally got back to my hotel and settled down. I chose the pod at the bottom as I did not need to climb up to the bunk. The bunk had a pillow and a blanket. The pod was also really big and as a shorter girl I could sit up and even place my luggage in the capsule.
The capsule was a simple, it had a two pin plug, like the ones in America, a little shelf and three different light settings. The hotel also provided you with home slippers to walk around and a curtain to close the room as you sleep.
More amenities include the powder room where girls can comfortably do their makeup and prepare for the day:)
Even though it was my first night in Japan, I fell comfortably asleep. I'm not too sure if there was any air-con as I felt a little warm at first though you could feel the air circulation.
Booth Net Cafe and Capsule Hotel is right in the middle of Shinjuku which means that once you step out of the hotel you have everything that you need a stone's throw away. I found a convenience store nearby and got some cheap breakfast! The train station is also just a 5-min walk away.
I really enjoyed my night's stay at a Japanese Capsule Hotel, I found it to be very clean and tidy. Their service was also exceptional and the beds were comfortable. Book it here below!
As Japanese people work very long hours, some may stay very far, capsule hotels are an easy way for Japanese to stay the night and wake up the next morning to go to work. There are plenty of capsule hotels in Japan and I would highly recommend for you to try staying for a night!
Here are some capsule hotels for you to choose from that is in the Tokyo! There are capsule hotels that are fully female, male and also both genders, do book the right capsule to your comfort level:)
