Welcome to my hometown Athens, a city that seamlessly blends ancient history with modern vibrancy. This three-day adventure is designed to help you make the most of your time in this captivating Greek capital. From exploring the iconic Acropolis and its awe-inspiring monuments to savoring traditional cuisine in charming neighborhoods, and immersing yourself in Athens' lively nightlife, you'll discover the diverse facets that make this city truly special.
This guide is divided into the following categories:
1. what to do for each day (archeological sites, neighborhoods you need to visit, activities to do)
2. where to eat & drink (includes 6 restaurants, 6 all-day cafes/bars),
3. where to party (nightlife in Athens).
It is suitable for both winter and summer visitors.
A curated list of recommendations like this unlike an itinerary offers flexibility and allows travelers to choose based on their available time. However, the way I listed the activities by day allows for a manageable time-based plan.
It includes a map and insight notes such as a place description, the address, the opening hours, the ticket prices, the official website to book your tickets (If needed), and some tips for your visit.
Make sure to also check my Athens Riviera FREE Guide, if you are visiting Athens during the summer.

A hotel room with an epilepsy warning? An omakase course of tea-based cocktails? I can't say for sure these are hidden gems, but after months of seeing everyone and their moms go to Japan since COVID reopening, I can say these were some of my favorite spots that I seldom saw people visit.
Hi! I'm a Brooklyn-based tech journalist-turned-corporate comms editor. Early in my career I spent a stint as a luxury travel planner and writer specializing in Asia, and if I can toot my own horn, I'm often the friend everyone says "wth Natt, how do you find all these cool spots, drop that itin." (Fine, they don't say it like that, but you get the point).
Travel planning is a great hobby for me, and I am writing this as both a journal to remember my trip by and to share with friends, hence the overly familiar tone you might find below. If you discovered this on the Thatch platform, consider giving my guide a shot and hopefully you'll find it useful for an adventuresome visit to Japan!
This guide includes:
✈️ Pre and post-arrival pro-tips
🛌 Hotel, restaurant, and activity suggestions with some personal anecdotes (we vetted any Instagram vs realities!)
📍 Resources, databases, and things to make your journey more efficient and economical
It is not:
📆 A list of daily itineraries
❓ "Beginner's guide to Japan" i.e. how to book JR trains, basic etiquettes, how to transfer from airport to city
🔝 The absolute best of the bests - opinions here totally my own

Sips and Surprises: From Mocktails to Mixology! Imagine sipping cocktails in an ice bar. Picture yourself wandering through a lush Amazonian jungle, all while enjoying your favorite drinks. Step into the heart of friendly competition as you challenge your friends to video game battles and ping-pong matches. Forget the usual tourist traps and clichés. Paris has a vibrant nightlife that's waiting to be discovered. This guide is your passport to the quirky, themed, and hidden bars!
While this guide primarily focuses on bars, it's worth noting that some of these places also offer food options and operate from lunchtime until late at night, often transitioning into lively party places as the evening unfolds.
You don't have to be a drinker to enjoy these venues, as some of them offer activities and a variety of non-alcoholic beverages.
This guide is organized by arrondissements.
